What was the point of trading picks for a D, when you could have just gotten Stone signed(who you traded a 2nd round pick for), and just signed Franson or Demers for cheap and given one of the kids a chance. This is horrible assest management.
Nothing ever pleases you and you're most likely not even a Flames fan, why do you bother posting here?
If the Oilers had made the exact same trade you would have been singing their praises and condemning Treliving for not taking the opportunity to improve our team.

Hate to see all those draft picks go but Hamonic and his cap hit is hard not to get excited about it. Hopefully Stone will accept a 3rd pairing type contract, but the Flames should really limit his contract to two years so he doesn't block some the Flames defensemen prospects from moving up. Have Kulak/Andersson as the #6 and Bartowski in the press box.

Can someone refresh me, how in the #### were they jobbed? Can't fight through adversity means you don't deserve to win. Loser mentality
No idea, I guess they're whining about goal calls. But the fact of the matter is that even though the series went 6 games. The Ducks basically dominated the series with the exception of one game.
Also how can he say that when a key cog is going to miss a whole ton of the start of the season and nearly everyone on that team had a career year.
Hard times ahead for the Oilers.

So flames got Valimaki, Hamonic and a guy ranked as a second rounder in the 4th. Great draft in my opinion, got peices for the future and a big peice for the present. Teams gotten substantially better at every draft since 2013, anyone complaining obviously prefers to stay in a constant rebuild
Those guys are so clueless. I dont want to derail this into an Oilers' thread or anything, but last season everything went the Oilers' way, from career years, stellar goaltending, the softest schedule, the easiest playoff draw and no significant injuries.
Those stars are unlikely to align that perfectly again.

If you thought this season would have a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.

What if the Flames traded two second round picks to get an additional first round pick. Then they selected Valimaki and a player like Hamonic. Then next year one of those guys make the team out of camp and solidifies the top 4 into one of the best in the league. Would people still be up in arms about the price paid?
I know, my knees are hurting from the number of hoops jumped through, but its not that far off.
Rob is like the Randy Quaid character in major leagues two. During their years in hell he was happy to take shots at the Oilers. But they have one good season and suddenly he goes from

If that's the case, the Flames were also jobbed out of what should've been a 7 game series.
But alas, the better/deserving team doesn't need calls (or excuses), they just find a way to win because they're good enough. And the Oilers were not. Talbot and their defense will not have a repeat of last season, I am quite certain. That was a lightning in a bottle season for their back end, which is underwhelming and average in reality. Eventually that reality will come to light.
@DimFilipovic: After spending all of last year dragging around Dennis Wideman, Michael Stone and Deryk Engelland I imagine TJ Brodie is a fan of this move.
Um no. Brodie was dragging down every partner last season, not the other way around.
I love the acquisition. I am a little uneasy giving up a 1st though. I wish is was at least lottery protected. Not that I expect the Flames to bomb next season, but stranger things have happened.
The contract is awesome though and nowadays, that it a large part of the trade cost.
