Nah, that's more a home team myth in the NHL amongst fans. Missing the net or hitting the goalie in his equipment is just reality in the NHL in 2017.

95% of shots in the NHL look like uninspired, lazy shots at the middle of the goalie or crappy misses because with how big goalies are and how positionally sound they play there really isn't much there.
