I'm not sure that others care to have you summarize their feelings about the forum or make predictions about what they are going to do. But as for complaining about players who are playing fine that's another opportunity for you to have a look in the mirror. Anyway, if you don't like the forum or the posters and there is a new "number 1 place to talk Flames":
You're right, I'm done putting up with all the dumb little ####s on this forum. There are more trash posters on this forum than educated reasonable ones so what's the point.
Mods go ahead and lifetime suspend me. The community on this forum is terrible and many of the posters who I respected and who have frequented this forum for years have also left.

Just use the Ignore feature. That's precisely what it's for.

Every hockey fan on earth know what to expect with IIHF games. It is what it is. Why do people still need to get all but-hurt about a shootout every year? This tournament is gimmicky to begin with since there is only ever 3-4 teams in contention in any given year so its not like we just lost a gold medal in the Olympics.
The fact a few Flames prospects showed themselves as significant cogs in the wheel of such a great game is really encouraging.

Silence is treated as acceptance. The NHL has adopted 3 on 3 specifically to drive down the number of shootouts in the regular season because people continued to argue it is a horrible way to determine a winner. And that is for a regular season game.
The IIHF has even made changes. They made OT for the gold medal game 20 minutes instead of 10 just this year to try and mitigate the possibility of a shootout. Didn't work, alas, but the problem of the shootout doesn't get fixed if people meekly accept it.

Seriously? I came to this thread wanting to chat about our Flames prospects one of which won the game for team USA. But instead of hockey talk it's a bunch of grown men whining about IIHF rules.
Start a thread about removing the shootout from IIHF if that's all you want to talk about. I'd like to talk about our prospects who participated in this tournament.

Nobody here is talking about the game (other then how apparently a shootout ruined everything that took place before it). As if a shootout magically erased the amazing game we watched.
SureLoss as usual is the only one here contributing to the thread in a positive way.

I know Bingo isn't happy with where this forum has headed and it's easy to see why. CP has been steadily declining and this is no longer the number 1 place to talk Flames which is sad considering the active, knowledgeable community CP once had.
SureLoss is the only good thing about CP these days. And it's at the point where he's not going to bother wasting his time posting here because nobody wants to talk about actual news, just complain about players who are playing fine and rules that have been in place for years.

I think you're comparing apples and oranges though. The NHL regular season is an entirely different beast than this media generated darling of a tournament. I find the shootout acceptable for this event merely due to the fact that in a few weeks no one really cares who won the world junior tournament. Would I want the Stanley Cup on the line in a shootout...no way but that is another discussion entirely.
Personally I don't think there was anything left for either team to prove at this stage of the game so why not just get it over with? Chances are you're just going to see some garbage goal go in off a bad bounce anyway when things are that tight and you keep playing.

there are so many better solutions then a shootout. I dont know why the NHL and IIHF like the shootout so much. For some reason they think fans like it.
Heck I would even try a crazy college football style 2 minute powerplay against 2 minute powerplay before having a shootout.
That is essentially what 3 on 3 is.
It isn't exactly 'real hockey' (i.e. 5 on 5). But it is a hell of a lot closer to it than a shootout is. And (much like your football analogy), it's far more likely to produce a victory than regular overtime would (assuming you have time constraints).

It's only apples and oranges to you because you choose to make an arbitrary distinction based on perceived importance. I don't. No hockey game should be determined via shootout. Not a WJC game, not an NHL game, not a Junior B exhibition game. The shootout flat out should not exist in this sport.
Regardless, you asked why people complain, I answered: because that's how changes get made.

Enoch...I said Forums, and that I appreciated the passion that Canadians demonstrate, such as here at here at CP, I did NOT say that CP, itself, was the source of the bile, I meant newspapers comments, etc....sorry, if that wasn't clear

they went the other way. OT in the final has been 20 minutes AND 4 on 4 the last 8 years. Why would they go back to 5 on 5 to INCREASE the likelyhood of a shootout.

What a great game! Was watching with a bunch of nucks fans and when Parsons made that last save in the shootout, everyone was swearing and I'm in the back with a grin.
My buddy turns and says "why the eff are you smiling?" I said "the silver lining, Calgary Flames prospect Tyler Parsons. Oh wait, that's not a silver lining for Canucks fans" and my grin turned to a full blown ear to ear smile and they all, almost in sync said "f*** you!"

Ahh, thanks for clarifying. And you're right, though it is sad.
TSN and all of Canada glorifies what Jonathan Toews did and his multiple shootout attempts, labeling it a 'heroic' performance.
Had Canada won, there would be no hand-wringing over a shootout win.
You should look back a few pages, BEFORE the result it was almost unanimous that a shootout is a terrible way to determine a champion and not a fitting end to such a great game.
Nope.
Hated the outcome even when Toews did it.
It is a horrible way to decide something important. Who wins doesn't change my POV on that.
I was actually thinking of the Toews tourney when I posted how stupid the rule for multiple shots for the same shooter was. And I posted that before the shootout started.
I think the entire team should shoot.
And here's why:
It's a little blurry but pause it at 23s. He's the original Scoreface without a doubt.

Is it just me or am I the only one that doesn't get excited about goalie prospects? Parsons looks good but I can't find myself being excited for a goalie. It's always been a disappointment getting excited for goalie prospects in Calgary.

Only because they take so long to develop. But the guy is fast, confident and looks like gumby. I'm fairly excited.
