If Milos wins tonight he goes up to 9th 3110 points passing Gasquet and Tsonga
If he wins the whole thing he's still up to only 9th but with a bigger cushion 3910 points. #8 Berdych has 4200

I don't get that. Do all the semifinalists get 0.9 mil? Or do both the semi loser get 0.9 mil?

Making the semi's guarantees you 0.9 mil, making the finals guarantees 1.9m, and the winner gets 3.8.

Milos has already earned $8.9 M playing tennis, at age 25.
Genie has won $4.6 M at age 21.

Novak earned $21.7 million last year alone. Ivan Lendl won 8 majors and won $21.2 million for his career. Big money now in tennis (though I wonder how much it'll decline when the Big 3 retire).

Or how serious the crackdown will be regarding match fixing and wagering on tennis. Also, I was unaware that tennis is the second most bet on sport for British bookmakers (football (soccer) being number #1).
The rise of online gambling and in-play betting has seen turnover on tennis betting rise to billions of pounds every year.
Only football generates more business for Britain’s bookmakers and betting exchanges as punters have latched on to the multiple and quick-fire opportunities presented by tennis

tennis is the most bet on sport because at lower levels there is literally a match going on every second of every day somewhere in the world. There may be 20 mens/womens tournaments gonig on this week. Sheer volume

People probably asked the same about Sampras and Agassi.

When Sampras and Agassi retired, Federer was coming up. By the time Agassi retired Federer was already starting to dominate.

predicting the next generational star is about as easy as drafting franchise goaltenders, i.e. not at all. Roger always talks about how he wasted his first few years on tour by not working very hard and being generally whiny. if it didn't click for him at some point, he could have become just another Safin or worse.
I'm sure there's a few kids out there with mind blowing talent, but they'll never make it unless they have the perfect combination of coaching, work ethic, opportunity and just plain luck. it will suck though if the Big 3 pass on without any clear successors. please let it be Felix Auger...he has the same birthday as Roger so that must be a sign right?

Kyrgios is the guy on tour currently who has the talent to become a big star, but obviously since he has the mind of a 7 year old he won't become anything but a waste of talent until that changes. But from everything I read from experts and such, Felix Auger is pretty much the single best young talent in men's tennis. Obviously he won't be a factor for at least another season and probably two (still only 15 after all), but everyone seems to have a very high opinion of him. Plus he got into tennis because he watched the Fed-Nadal 2008 Wimbledon final. There has to be a mega star born from that match, might as well be Felix.

3:30 am. That's a tough one. Would love to get up but not sure if I could make it through a whole work day after.
