Rumors that Buf is about to extend O'Reilly, I thought he wasn't eligible to be extended until Jan 1st (like Talbot)?

Beleskey has offers from 5 teams he is deciding on in the 5-7 year range and around 4.5-5M per year.

To expand on this, Bobby Mac said he believes it to be 7 years and at least 7.5M per year.

The team that signs that deal should expose their management team as a bunch of idiots. That's the best part about this time of year. Teams overpaying for mediocre guys get exposed year after year.

No, he's on a two-year contract, so he can be signed now. It's only one-year contracts that can't be extended until January.

January 1st is only if you want to extend a player on a 1 year deal.
Otherwise you can extend a player on a multi-year deal on July 1st of the final year of their contract.

Normally I really get annoyed watching Jeff O'Neill but today he's pretty right on most things he's said. Unlike many other panel guys who need to butter up certain players to keep sources, O'Neill's spewed whatever he believes and he's more right then wrong...just today.

Yeah I agree. I think if a team wants to do that, make it a max 3 year deal. Term is way too long.
Also crazy: Ryan O'Reilly is not a 7.5 M player. I can't believe he is close to that per year on a 7 year extension with Buffalo.
