You mean teams aren't climbing over each other to trade picks and prospects for the goaltender the underdog Flames lit up (3.03 GAA & .886 SV%) in the first round of the playoffs? Lack is a good backup goaltender but any team that expects him to be their starter simply has to look at the tape to see how they should expect their season to go.

I can't see getting a 3rd overall for ANYBODY'S discards, unless it was a marquee name to draw attendance...
I just can't see that Raymond would command that kind of return...and as for Bickell or Versteeg, from the 'Hawks, getting out of their contracts would be the main reward for Chicago.

Ha-ha! It's a CP meme. Not a serious trade proposal.

Agostino, maybe. Arnold is a rightie, and valuable-ish.

I'd be shocked if the Flames entertained any ideas of moving Bill Arnold. He had a great season last year despite suffering a pretty gnarly injury.

Agostino arguably had a better season than Arnold, not sure why posters are discounting him. Agostino and Arnold look like guys who will step in for guys like Bolig and Byron next season. And if the Flames can move Raymond, that becomes all the more likely. I can see the Flames giving Hanowski a QO, but that's about it.

I think Hanowski gets an AHL deal and Reinhart gets qualified one last time.

Just a reminder, Agostino had 26 points in his final 22 games last year. If that's the Agostino we get next year, he's not even close in trade value to the great Ben Hanowski.

What was he smoking? No way teams are offering even close to that.

I think it's actually a realistic price for an eliete goalscoring winger just entering his prime.
I know it is fasionable to dislike Phil cause he's fat and lazy and has a poor attitude and blah blah blah, but fact remains he can do things only a few in the world can do.
contrary to popular belief the Leafs aren't simply looking to dump him, they're looking to leverage this asset into piece(s) that will move their organization forward.

He scored 25 goals last season. He was 46th in points. His -34 rating was 880th best. And he has a massive contract. Let's not get carried away.

That's not fair KFF, his poor season was only because he stopped caring because his team was out of it.
Nothing says "winner" more than that.

the kessel situation plays out one of three ways:
1) they move the contract as I suggested for another contract ie:Semin. buy him out. move on.
2) they make a hockey deal. Kessel for a player, a pick, and a 1st. Boomer suggested a few weeks back Gilles, Backlund, and a 1st while the flames were rumored to be interested. Obviously not going to happen now, but a deal similar to this would certainly interest the Leafs.
3) they keep one of the best goal scorers in the league.
for the record, I'm a flames fan. If you think Flames fans are better/smarter than leafs fans, or anyother fan base, you're sorely mistaken.
|
Of course that would interest the Leafs - it is overpayment.
Boomer may have thrown it out there, but there is no way the Flames would offer that up. Gillies is a blue-chip prospect and Backlund is a solid player at a good price.
Don't throw out one person's speculation and imply that it represents value, because it doesn't.
I would think that the Leafs will get a first (non-lottery), a middling player, and a prospect. But not Boomer's proposal.
By the way, I would expect that, if the Flames move Hudler this season (summer or deadline), the return would be similar or a little less - probably a first and a good prospect.

Exactly, things only a few in the world can do! Probably because he played with Bozak or that would have been a +34 or +334 depending on which centre he played with.

Of course they are.
But they are not going to get the equivalent of Gillies + Backlund + 1st.
They're just not. No matter how many times you say it.
IMO, the Flames-equivalent of what they'll get would be:
MacDonald + Jones + (lottery-protected) 1st.
Edit: maybe instead of Jones, Jooris or Granlund

TOFan is just hilarious. Keeps defending Kessel saying he's an elite talent and blah blah then he says Leafs should look at a trade for Alexander Semin who has been called out by media/coaches for being the laziest player ever.
