And I understand why they got rid of duration training, but as an offline player it sucks. Training should be permanent, as those premium training cards are difficult to come by. The best part of HUT when they introduced it was strategically training and signing the cards you had.
Now you're simply dependent on hopefully pulling out a superstar. I purchased the Deluxe edition (or whatever it was) and got the free 3 packs for 20 weeks and the best card I've pulled in all that was Nugent-Hopkins. I have a ton of training and contract cards, and have quick sold a bunch of redundant player cards that nobody will bid on.
It's a neat concept of a play mode, but it's neutered to the point that it becomes stale after a month or so.

Just started playing the game. All offline so far.
Be A Pro - Thank God the sim to next shift option is back. I also really like the idea that you choose your weekly workouts (or to skip them) and that you gain experience based on the things you do. I dislike that you lose experience for things (like losing a face-off) but I can live with it. Coach feed back is better but still stupid in many areas.
Be A GM - A.I. is still an overall mess. My biggest beef is that scouting is still a mess. Why do you only have one scout? We can you not have a team of scouts and build your own list. The timer for making a great addition, as is the trading during it, but the whole scouting system is idiotic. I also have issues with the AI making bad decisions (Conner McDavid is a 93 in his third year and is still assigned to the AHL until I bring him up). Trading is better but still sometimes laughable. But who am I to complain about trading Nikita Nikitin for Jarome Iginla straight up. Yakupov for Lucic and Schultz for Hamonic were funny too (yes, I'm playing with "that" team).;
The morale system is a nice idea but fails. It's random and repetitive. I bring a guy up from the AHL and his AHL teammates lose moral because he's left the team? The team loses morale because I trade Mark Fayne and sign Victor Hedman? If this sticks around it needs a lot of work.

McDavid will always be on an AHL team until he reaches his UFA status.

I played as Boston and traded Krejci to Calgary for Monahan and Brody.
Team lost morale for trading a superstar player but I'll take that deal any day!

Morale system needs to be optional. It's garbage.

One thing I find stupid about it is when you put a guy on your trade block his morale instantly goes down. In reality most players wouldn't know they were being shopped unless the media got wind of it and started reporting it.

My biggest hopes for 17 so far are a removal of the morale system (or option to turn it off), and goals-assists-points shown after a player scores.
I hate the morale because I like making up the story of the season in my mind. It annoys me when I bring a kid up and he starts playing great on my team, and suddenly he whines about something. I was having fun with that player and now he annoys me.

Not fully recovered from an injury, sit him to let him heal, morale takes a drastic dip because of being scratched.
Call a player up, rest of team loses morale because he left the team.
It's clear the EA team did not think this feature through.

I remember this in NHL 2003 - they had specific commentary for when players hit milestones (season and career), showed in game totals for both current season and career depending on the situation.
I miss that.

That was the best. There was even an animation where they'd look up at the jumbotron.

That was the best. I really wish the game would recognize things like that. It would be great to have in all modes and would make HUT, be a GM and be a pro more interesting.

i believe the beta for nhl17 releases tomorrow... any word on what the game modes/format of the beta will be?
Last year was for eashl drop ins only, which was extremely frustrating if you just wanted to turn it on and try things out, as finding a game damn near impossible (i'm not an eashl player at all). I am hoping for a different format this year.
