The word from Durant and the Roughriders' medical people is that there's an excellent chance of #4 returning at some point in 2014.

Good.
I still think the Riders will likely end up as the 3rd place team and will have to beat Edmonton in Commonwealth to have a shot at the Stamps in McMahon.

Here's article from last year, when Cornish talks about the NFL:

http://www.calgarysun.com/2013/08/13...g-south-to-nfl

Quote:
Dickenson said it’s tough to carve out a spot in the NFL later in a player’s career.
“He probably could, if he wants to, but Jon’s never been interested in the glory of the NFL,” Dickenson said. “It took a long time for him to get his opportunity here.
“So, do you want to go down there and get on the chart? Would you rather be on a team and not play or be the starter and make such a big impact like he does with us?
“He’s the type of guy who has integrated himself in this community, and he loves this city.”
Quote:
But Cornish doesn’t forsee a future in the four-down league.
“I think that ruled itself out a long time ago, unfortunately,” the 6-foot, 215-pounder said.
“I like to think I would have had the skill to play down there but I didn’t have the right mentality.
“I think that’s why I didn’t end up getting drafted.”
The former Kansas Jayhawks star said the CFL appealed to him right from the start.
“I didn’t have the right mentality going into the NFL combine,” he said. “I went to the Shrine Game and got to hang out with a few CFL coaches, and I hung out with some NFL coaches.
“Honestly, I was a lot more excited about the CFL than the NFL just based on that. I knew the CFL was a little more relaxed — and the NFL has changed some of their camp regulations and stuff — but I’m a pretty laid-back guy.”
Not that he couldn't change his mind.

“@sportscage: Rider GM Brendan Taman told CKRM they expect to activate Darian Durant for Game 18 at Calgary”

Still think it is pretty doubtful Durrant returns this year, despite the propaganda from the flatlands.

Have to give their PR department credit though.... No one is talking about them being shutout in Edmonton on Friday anymore. Not just shutout, but never close enough to even attempt a long field goal. That's almost impossible to do in the CFL.

Riders likely limp into the playoffs in third and get blown out by Edmonton again. Western final all Alberta in Calgary. The only real question is can Edmonton run for 300 yards again in a single game?

Yep, it just stopped people from talking about how bad their two QBs (Sunseri & Doege) played last game. Take the pressure off those two before the game against Stampeders.

They messed up my week last week too. They are just terrible with run defense. The funny part was this is the first time I did not pick Ottawa while playing at home. Cheese is going to get a kick of this if Ottawa beat the Bombers.

I thought that was the same Jonathan Williams who played a game or two for Stampeders last season. He actually played well for Stamps for a game running the ball and returning punts/kickoff. Good for him that he is getting a chance to play for Ottawa and doing well. I hope he keeps it up.

Wow, Drew Willy sure is playing like Steven Jyles. He's been brutal in the 2nd half of the season. Last game he messed up too by not paying attention to the clock.

That PI call on Young from Eskimos was pretty obvious.

That was a dumb penalty roughing the passer. I get that Argos D helmet hit Reilly's helmet, but Reilly ducked his head.

So many stupid penalties on this game Eskies and Argos. Here comes an on-side kick with Argos ahead 33-32 25 seconds left. Argos recovered the ball. There goes the ballgame.

WTH!! Chris Jones don't like shaking hands after the game or what? Milanovich was shaking some of the Eskimo players and coaches' hand while Jones is trotting straight to the locker room. What a jerk!

They embraced before the game, I guess that's good enough for Jones.

He's probably made some enemies around the league. Seems like a prick.
