Hopefully after next year or even during, Poirier can replace Colborne. I don't really expect that though until maybe the year after. Nice scenario to think about. Both of them. That's all factoring in Johnny playing lots of games with the Flames next year. I won't be upset if he stays with the baby Flames for a while tho. Almost said Heat! Haha

Kid is just sick!!!!!

I think Poirier will be the better player, has a great package with size. Yet I so hope I am wrong, I would not mind watching Johnny for ten plus years like this in the NHL.

I just think the kid has vision not seen in many many years, anywhere. I don't think it is so much "Is Johnny ready for the Calgary Flames", its more like "Are the Calgary Flames ready for Johnny?".

Gonna take time for the guys to learn to keep their stick on the ice at all times, they gotta be ready to receive that pass they are not expecting. Never been so excited about a 4th round pick, ever.

I just cant imagine Johnny not making it. Sure, many small skilled players never make it. Yet his vision and overall talent is elite. I will go nuts if they try to make this guy play defense. I think he is good at that too though. Guy like this you let him do his thing.

Old old old Winnipeg jets fan, remember the years of ben lundholm, spelling is wrong for sure. A similar talent John Ferguson hated. Guy was awesome with the puck, but was not truculent enough for him. Sure hope Burke is not an idiot like that.

I'd rather see the both of them making D. Jones and Glencross expendable eventually.

I hope that Draisaitl and Gaudreau are linemates in the near future.

Monohan and Gaudreau displayed immediate chemistry during development camp last year. Would love to see them playing together again.

I'd maybe like to see Gaudreau play with which ever center we are likely to get this draft going forward a few years. I d like to put Baertschi on the left with Monahan and Colborne as soon as next year as I thought he had pretty good chemistry with Monahan at the start of last season. Add an improving 6'5 winger on the other side and you could have a very solid and productive young line.

Gaudreau can learn the ropes with a more experienced guy like Backlund for a year or 2 until Reinhart, Bennett or Draisaitl is ready to make an impact. It certainly wouldnt hurt for Gaudreau to play with a defensively sound guy like Backlund to start either.

Monahan and Gaudreau should be a good paring. Monahan knows how to get to the right spot at the right time. Gaudreau knows how to get him the puck at that exact time.

You know what else would sound good?

Gaudreau - Monahan

Bennett - Poirier

Lots of great possibilities with our 4th pick from this year slotting in down the road.

While I share your enthusiasm for Poirier, I'd like to see no one replace Colborne. I want to see Colborne continue to improve and round out his game. There will be plenty of potential linemates for a guy like Poirier.
There's room for a smaller skilled player like Gaudreau/Baertschi on the Monahan-Colborne line.

I'd actually like to see Poirier tried out with Glencross. That's a lot of speed with some grit.
Loving the clips I'm seeing of Johnny Hockey in this tourney and very excited for training camp to begin!

Yeah for sure. Mainly meant Poirier sometime being maybe a better fit with Gaudreau on that line and Colborne slotting in elsewhere. Poirier has speed to burn like Johnny but has more tenacity/net drive which could make them an awesome duo. Throw a cerebral and defensively responsible centerman like Monahan in there who also likes to get his nose dirty with a few extra pounds and can finish/make plays too...ugghhh!!! In a good way! Wow.

I haven't thought this way in a long time about our prospect base. Maybe big Joe with Granlund and Sven..the possibilities. It's nice to have those.

Yeah, don't see anyone supplanting Colborne on the wing..just thinking his top end may be a second liner (which is fine), where Poirier with his speed, feistiness, and finish could find him on a top line with Gaudreau. Just a lot of hope, as maybe someone or both don't find themselves on the top line in a couple years, but with Emile and Johnny's steady progression, I wouldn't be surprised to see them both there sometime.

How many things did Johnny do that game? Spin pass from behind the net, perfect PP cross ice pass, undressing two germans, looking like Doug Gilmour behind the net. Everytime this kid steps on the ice you know something special's gonna happen.

One of the most interesting plays wasn't even brought up or mentioned in the telecast. After passing it to I think Abdelkader who shot from in close, Gaudreau got the rebound in really close to the net and tried flipping it over the goalies head it looked like. It ended up hitting the mesh just to the left of the goalie.

A couple of games ago he tried banking it in off the side of the goalies head

For right now a Gaudreau - Monahan - acolborne line is what I want, you can see how well Johnny gets thinsg to the front of the net and that's the place Colborne and Monahan always are. Gaudreau and Poirier long term with Bennett would be amazing. What would just be sooooooooo fun to see is a Gaudreau and Konecy combo.

I disagree.

Monahan and Colborne were getting their heads beat in at even strength.

Best if Gaudreau, if he plays this year in the NHL, plays on a line with better even strength players.

Coulborne should never touch that line. They need a legit finisher.
