Exactly.
This is just the 2013 version of "Please call Crimestoppers if you have any information"

The fact he also has an orange juice in his backpack, suggests that he is just there to watch the race. Why would he bring provisions with him to hang around the scene of his crime with a backpack full of volatile explosives? Whoever did this probably slipped in and out of the crowd and dropped off the pack as quickly as possible.
The only thing that makes the guy in the white hat suspicious is that him and his friend friend are brown. IE racism.

Totally agree. That second guy is almost certainly nothing.
With the first, there is at least the potential for the backpacks to be the same.

And there's also no point in getting upset or butt hurt over the "witch hunt" theory. People have been witch hunting suspects for as long as man existed - it's human nature to find and root out perpetrators of crimes, some are just more qualified to do it than others. We just happen to live in an age where people can do it more easily because of recording devices.

Kind of strange quoting myself, but I think it is worth noting that the way he is holding that backpack is a way to do it without getting fingerprints on it.

Unlike the vigilante stuff relating to that girl's suicide; on this one, Im going to totally disagree with you valo.
No one online is going after anyone, they just seem to be helping point out potential suspicious people by noting their bags/movements, no harm being done. Just additional eyes for things that investigators might miss.

CNN reporting that Boston police have ID'd a bombing suspect in video footage: "a dark-skinned male," says John King.

Looking at these pictures, it surprising more people wernt killed. Unless the crowds cleared out by the time the bombs went off. The people killed must have been very close to where the bombs were placed.

Bombs like this are built to maim more then to kill.
Plus placing it that low.
The people closest to the bomb inadvertently saved people around them.

See, they're officially asking for help. Hopefully they release pics of the suspect.

I'll put my Sherlock 2 cents in.
If you're carrying a pressure cooker filled with ball bearings and metal, wouldn't it be very heavy? I don't think I would be able to carry it draped over one arm (like bearded guy) I would wear it on my back or carry it with 2 hands. I don't think it was buddy with track suit friends because it doesn't match the exploded back pack picture.

And you're telling me that the FBI wouldn't have been able to put that together without the help of the highly untrained internet sleuths out there?

You'd have to take it off and have it ready to put down at one point regardless. It's not like he'd take it off his back and plop it right on the ground and walk away. You'd think he'd carry it in his arms and then set it down, linger for a bit and walk away...

So there's no harm in having your face circled as a suspect in a terrorist bombing?

He was there with a similar backpack. Anyone with half a brain would probably expect that they will get some flack the moment they saw pics of the backpack used in the bombing.
If it wasn't him, then he has nothing to worry about. Just chill at home for a bit and help the police if needed.

Based on the way Beardo is holding his backpack it doesn't look like there's something especially heavy in there either. The backback is angled back towards him. The straps don't look especially tense.

Crazy that there are so many qualified people on Calgarypuck for explosives analysis and criminal profiling. Thank god everyone has access to MS Paint, otherwise where would we be in this investigation? Nowhere, that's where.

You're seriously telling me that having your face circled and connected to this is nothing to worry about? Have you heard the name Richard Jewell?
