You may label me a terrible fan, but I hope we lose every single game going forward, not so much to get McKinnon (which would be nice), but to keep the buffoons in charge from temptation to "tweak" the roster to get us "over the hump".

Or so they think.
Dumb looking plan at the moment.

Yeah this new arena is bad news for hardcore fans who are going to have their enjoyment of Flames hockey sacrificed because owners believe they need Iginla in a Flames jersey to sell fair-weather fans on the new building. Meanwhile hardcore fans are left in the cold with a bottom feeder team, a bleak future, propped up by aging star players that are shadows of their former selves. But hey as long as #12 is around to sell jerseys I guess all is well.

Vlad it's no longer a hump. It's a mountain but you are correct the buffoons will try their darnedness to tweak their way out of their mess. The Flames may be the first 15th place team in the history of the league to be buyers at the deadline and nobody around the league would be shocked.

Flames can keep Iginla and totally overhaul the team...a late 1st and a decent player is the most we are gonna get anyway

I would say the Flames were in a state of mediocrity over the past 2-3 years. Not in decline, but not getting better. The decline has now started and without major changes this year will probably be the best year of a 3 year decline.

Well, now I know why management and ownership won't do the right thing and make the transition. Clearly there enough people like yourself that support the status quo (not trying to be rude).

Hmmm...not sure..maybe?
Can the Flames management and coaching staff shift the organizational mentality from the status quo to that of a new face and identity with Iginla still on the team?
Maybe, but I have seen nothing from any coach or GM of the Flames in the past 4 years to indicate so.
My opinion...He's been the face and star of this franchise for so long that I think it just may be too much of a hurdle for Flames brass to make the shift while he's around.
That's not Iginlas fault by the way....but i think it may be reality.

I don't think Calgary will support a team that has no interest in winning. Though why Edmonton does I don't understand.

Define 'no interest in winning'...
Are you referring to building for the future? Or what they're doing now?

They could but why not add more assets to help with the rebuild.
Iginla isn't going to be an effective player by the time the rebuild is complete so all you are doing is wasting an asset and possibly hurting the rebuild as well.
Plus keeping Iginla around seems to make it hard to rebuild because the management seem to think that as long as he is here the team "has a shot."

He is right though. One late 1st rounder is not going to have a big effect on the rebuild. I would have zero faith in this team's management, scouting, or player development to make it count.

Sadly i am starting to feel like you. I have not yet started cheering against them, but in the last couple of games when the opposition has scored i have smiled. In the past i would get mad.
When hearing comments that they don't want to entertain the thought of a rebuild and don't seem to want to talk to Iggy about his status, i am at an all time low for this franchise.

They can still be rebuilding. I mean going into the season - multiple seasons in edmontons case - with a team designed to suck.
I don't think the flames strategy re: a building has much to do with keeping iginla based on his name alone. Or don't know why it would be anyway. If they are last for 3 years the fan base will be gutted iginla or no iginla. If they trade iginla and others for something more than magic beans I don't think they'll have a problem.

It's not like they couldn't have asked him to move when they were doing the fire sale.Jaybos seemingly on our trade block in every third post

Did they not get Karlson as a result of the fire sale?
