There's eight teams. I'll see if I am allowed to post the list.
If not, people will find out eventually. I can back up Bunk, it's a "who's who" of the design world.

Cenovus Energy has agreed to lease one million square feet of the 1.4-million-square-foot east tower, which upon completion will be the tallest structure in western Canada at 56 storeys or 247 metres in height.
Brookfield Place Calgary, previously known as '225 Sixth' and the former site of the Calgary Herald building, is a full-block development site in the heart of downtown, bounded 1st and 2nd Streets SW and 6th and 7th Avenues SW.

Wow, either they're giving back space to ECA in 2018 or CVE thinks they're seriously going to grow. Granted they've both spread into telus tower, probably extending leases in some other buildings, and Hanover is usually full of SU, ECA, CVE spillover. I thought H&R bought Telus to accommodate ECA & CVE.
Interesting.

Does Encana/Cenovus ever relinquish space when they take over a new tower? I thought they just kept it all.

Intersting that this site is going forward (and involved demo) and another site is going forward (that also involves demo) and the Imperial Land off 6th ave 4th street SW remains one big empty downtown parking lot.

Library shortlist is down to four. Three surprises on the list, one expected.

Not sure. Let's just say, if I were on the committee... I wouldn't have picked those three for a variety of reasons.

Do people still use the library? I thought the internet, tablets, ibooks etc solved all of that. If you want the latest book usually the library doesn't have it. Even if they get a copy it's signed out and you need to get in line and hope the other users return it on time.
I guess it's a good place to study or for the homeless to sleep.
Libraries seem antiquated, a thing of the past. Not sure why we're pouring so much money into it.
How many people do you know with a library card?

I think the better thing to call it is a research center. "Library" connotes a singular offering - books. However, nowadays, they are so much more - Internet, collaboration spaces, DVD rentals, old film reels, academic database access, there is a need for these things.
As a point of reference, the Taylor Family Digital Library at the U of C was designed to take libraries into the future. They even have a library of video games, one of the first of its kind in North America.

I had a library card throughout university as I was reading books on the train. I was going through a book every week or 2 and I obviously could not afford to do that if I had to buy all my books. The library definitely still has a good purpose.

Academic databases is a huge one. Probably the only thing that will keep libraries alive. But then again, most people who need them (Academics and students) are part of a University anyways and already have access.

my wife has a library card and uses it a fair bit, mostly to rent books (much cheaper that way) and to rent movies (its that or redbox/bestbuy kiosks)

Selection committees screw everything up. You can have 9 great proposals and 1 terrible one... and if the selection committee picks that 1 it doesn't matter how great the other 9 were. (Yes, I'm kind of bitter.)

I was not really surprised by the list of 4 at all. The design architects are all strong.
