I guess the hockey parents (in YYC) on here by now will know this, but Hockey Calgary has sent a survey out asking for parent/player perspectives on various options/appetites for extending play etc. I realize these decisions may end up being outside of everyone (including HC's) hands but probably worth the time to fill out the survey

I saw a Tweet that said that the survey had to be completed by Monday because the season would have a Feb. 1 start date. Just wondering where this "Feb. 1" info is coming from, as I don't recall seeing it in the survey or on the covering e-mail?
I let my son fill out the survey... he wants to play. I think my own answers would depend on what the estimated start date would be, based on what AHS is telling them.

I think the Feb 1 date is sort of a drop dead date as they need to let arenas know etc.... but I haven't seen that date mentioned before.
To add to this, our soccer assocation has informed us to cancel anyting in our scheudel to Feb 1.

I tried searching but couldn't find it. If no one has heard this, I am guessing it is false information, sorry.

Edmonton soccer has given a Feb drop date date for their season. Indus hockey has cancelled their season.

I think it is dead.
What I find frustrating is the lack of communication from the two associations my kids are a part of.
I mean I get it this is new and things are unsure, but FFS give some type of guidelines or insight.
I have around $3000 tied up in fees and yeah I want the vast majority of it back.
That will be the next battle, associations giving back money.

In terms of refunds, I wonder how this will pan out for quadrant teams? I am assuming they have a number of fixed expenses, e.g. would they still be paying coaching staff regardless, and what about contracts for bussing and things like that?

The Quadrant players I know have been doing a crap tonne of fitness and zoom sessions with their team. My wife (and I agree) think this is too justify not refunding any money. While my son was upset he didn't make it, boy am I a glad he didn't.

I honestly think my boy would have made the team.
He was tided for 2nd in scoring Bantam 2 team as a first year.
But he didn't want to do it and I am happy. AA hockey is just a money grab IMO. It leads to next to nothing for the majority of players.
We have been getting "zoom" sessions from both my kids' associations and I agree with your wife (and Mine) this is designed to validate keeping our money.
Hell our association kept their paid employee ($100,000/yr) in pay roll....

zero communication from our association but I'm not expecting anything until Hockey Calgary officially announces no season.

In SK we went to 8 kids per ice max for 35 to 40 minute practices since early Dec. Distanced on the ice wearing masks under facemask. Come to the rink dressed.
My atom aged son got 2 games in before restrictions. Peewee aged got 5 games in.
They are tired of these practices but better than not being on the ice. They get a couple practices a week.
Some kids i have not seen since the restrictions but that is for the lower tiered son's team. The higher tiered son's team has a much better attendance rate.

Are you paying the same or has there been talk of refunds for a reduced product?

We paid the same registration fees upfront but are expecting a refund or credit unless they extend season into april. Never heard nothing in that regard yet.
Team fees were lower because tournaments werent allowed since october so teams planned for that.

Here in NB we got about 8 games in between mid November and Christmas only playing local teams no travel out of our local area or tournaments.
Went back to practice only Jan 3rd as cases increased until about 10 days ago we went to the "Red" Zone again and were off the ice completely. fortunately we shifted back to "orange" last night so back to practices again today. No indication yet when we might get back to the "yellow" game stage yet.
My son is second year U13 AAA and is affiliated to the U15 AAA minor team but being in the practice only stages affiliates aren't allowed to skate with the team.
Our fees were the same as last year but i feel we should be getting money back. No tournaments, fewer games etc but not expecting that it will happen.
also starting to get the ask for Spring hockey fees to be paid. I don't think that will be getting paid until a lot closer.

The hockey season is over. They will only be allowing school-related sport activity in Step 1, so we are at least one month out before kids are allowed to get back on the ice.
