David Eby excluded Tesla from the provincial EV rebates program. Elon is upset.
https://www.timescolonist.com/local-...e-ban-10377653
Quote:
Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla Inc. and a senior adviser to U.S. President Donald Trump, had a short response to B.C. Premier David Eby’s justification for removing rebates for his company’s electric-vehicle chargers.
“Crazy,” wrote Musk on his social media platform X.com, in response to a video of Eby speaking about the rebate ban.
BC Hydro posted a memo on its website Wednesday saying Tesla products are no longer eligible for EV charger rebates, which range from $350 for a residential unit to $2,000 for a workplace unit.
Eby was asked why on Thursday, and whether the change to the rebate policy applied to all U.S. manufacturers or just Tesla.
“Yeah, it’s just for Tesla, and it’s because of Elon Musk,” said Eby.
“I think if tens of thousands of taxpayers’ money was going to Elon Musk, they would want to throw up, so we removed them.”

I do not support the Nazi either, but the numbers are true:
https://www.carbonbrief.org/factchec...tric-vehicles/
What you're missing on analysis is that yes, you need to disturb land to mine and ship the contents. But gasoline needs to be explored, drilled, shipped, refined, and shipped again too. It isn't created in the fuel tanks at the gas station either. In fact, all of the mining necessary to replace all EVs would disturb way less land than needed to drill for the oil.

And again, I hate Tesla for reasons even beyond the Nazi, but Hitler did sort of create Volkswagen, no?
Life is complicated and evil people can have done great things too. Supporting Tesla now puts money in Elon's pockets as he owns significant shares. But I don't support demonizing people who already own a Tesla. The company itself has done some really good things and they do have some compelling vehicles.

Transportation of fossil fuels is a massive source of carbon emissions on it's own, even without production and actual use.
40% of all shipping is just oil, gas, and coal, and oil pipes are infamous for their tendency to leak and pollute the soil and groundwater.

The Cybertruck has been an idiotic vehicle since its concept. It deserves to be laughed at on its own accord. It's so, so dumb.

Tesla and Greenwashing
https://blogs.gwu.edu/law-gwpointsou...-greenwashing/
Quote:
While Tesla’s innovative products have undoubtedly contributed to the EV revolution, allegations of non-disclosure or manipulation of information raise important questions about transparency and authenticity in corporate sustainability efforts. As consumers increasingly seek eco-friendly alternatives, it is imperative that companies like Tesla uphold the highest standards of environmental accountability and provide accurate information to make informed choices. Tesla’s practices not only deceive consumers but also undermine the credibility of the environmental movement and the collective effort to combat climate change. It is crucial for companies to prioritize true sustainability over superficial marketing tactics and deliver on their promises for a greener future.

Can you put fridge magnets on it? That might help with the decor.

I’m not referring to the truck’s look, although it is ugly as hell. I’d be concerned about people’s reactions and risk of vandalism, although vandalism might improve its appearance.

Its kind of funny...the truck itself is...just unfathomably stupid. Start to finish.
But I do like that its durable.
That way you could take every scratch, dent and ding and even mild vandalism as almost a 'badge of honour.'
Except for the fact that the truck itself sucks entirely, its ugly, almost completely useless and generates revenue for a Nazi prick and people who purchased and drive one should be truly ashamed of themselves.
Then again...all Tesla owners should feel that way.
Tesla is subsidizing modern day fascism and not at all 'saving the planet through the magic of electricity.'

That should be Tesla's new Corporate Slogan!
"Tesla! Subsidizing modern day Fascism!"

The cyber truck isn't durable, hell the skin is glued on and falls off in cold weather.

#### Musk and #### Tesla.

I was not making any comment about supporting Musk, or buying Teslas in the future. But Tesla 15 years ago it a great thing for our environmental future, there is little denying that. I also say Tesla, because I'm reluctant to give Musk credit, since he bought out and latched onto a technology others developed.
The idea that EVs have a higher carbon foot print than ICEVs is out right brainwashed Alberta bull####. There is no room at all for middle ground on that, the conservative numbers are at 3:1. The hoops people need to jump through to believe this are shocking and a case study in motivated reasoning.

One should also remember that as grids get greener, because PEV and Wind generation actually have cheaper unit costs that conventional grid generation methods, that those China and India numbers will rapidly improve to better than 3:1 like Europe and America. And you should remember for that the Majority of Canada our grid is much cleaner than the US, so the numbers are even better, and that people in Alberta do have the option of self generating for their car, making it even better.
