Cody Glass would be amazing, but I don't think we have anything to entice them into a trade. He's taken the long road as a prospect, but he's still top-shelf.

First of all what a day; Treliving putting his wizard hat on yet again and has provided us with a master class off-season as a GM and after watching the presser it seems like they still want to add up front. Exciting times to be a Flames fan, easily the biggest rollercoaster off-season I’ve ever experienced as a fan. Admittedly I was crushed after Johnny elected UFA but I can’t believe Treliving went to work and somehow made this team deeper than last year. Can’t see how anyone could be upset about this, I was dreading middling purgatory after the first couple weeks but here we are. Unreal! Go Flames Go!!!!!

Yes, I would say that this has been a very good display of Elite GM’ing given the situation.

I still think Vilardi for Valimaki makes too much sense for both teams.

Both 2017 picks. LA could use a depth LH dman, Flames could use a RH forward

I agree with that, Vilardi could be late bloomer but at worst a high-end 4th line maybe even a 3rd

I would definitely be good with that. I wonder what we would have to add to get Konecny?

I like Vilardi, and I’ve even suggested him in here, but the big problem is his skating. It’s not very good, and it’s one of the reasons he spent a big chunk of the year in the AHL.

Because Kane is suggested by Gene Principe I’ll laugh when Treliving butts in front and snags him at 50 % retained for Dube + Valimaki + 23 1st + Prospect

Huberdeau - Lindholm - Kane
Mangiapane - Kadri - Toffoli
Pelletier - Backlund - Coleman
Lucic - Rooney - Lewis
Phillips, Ruzicka

Weegar - Tanev
Hanifin - Andersson
Kylington - Zadorov
Mackey - Meloche

Markstrom
Vladar

Of course I’m half joking… but man would Huberdeau - Lindholm - Kane be insanely fun to watch!

True but you are basically trading a flawed player who's development has de-railed for a flawed player who's development de-railed.
That's the only kind of deal you are going to find for Juuso other than some sort of pick.

I don't know though if Juuso gets you Vilardi.
If it does I like it.

If I've learned something over the years here. Is that once a player gets devalued , there's no gradual decline. It's straight to worthless.

I think Valimaki is fine, probably needs a change of scenery.

There's a good fw for Valimaki swap out there. And I think the fanbase will be surprised.

Kessel is interesting because he still put up points, but was clearly lacking motivation in Arizona.
Would skilled linemates, a good coach and contending team get him motivated? I'd be willing to offer a one year low money deal to see, worst case he can eat hot dogs in the press box.

If Kessel would sign a one year deal I think it's worth it. Keeps the risk low and could really solidify the top 6 and push Backlund and Coleman to the 3rd line where I think the depth just becomes really strong.

Backlund and Coleman are already going to be on the 3rd line, I suspect. But yes, they need a RW and it (more likely) would push Dube down where he should be.

Huberdeau - Lindholm - Toffoli / RW
Mangiapane - Kadri - RW / Toffoli

would leave Backlund, Coleman and Dube in the bottom 6. If Pelletier can make the jump (I am confident he is ready), that is becoming a very talented bottom 6.

A top 6 forward who costs less than $2M on a 1 year deal?

it doesn't need to be a star, just someone (RW) who can score 15-20 goals, and has decent wheels

it would round out the roster perfectly

Kessel had 52 points last year - fine. 8 goals is just weird for him.
