Yes. The Flames traded Rene Bourque while he was suspended.

Even on hockey central at noon someone had said something about Wideman to Boston. I wonder if that rumor going around has any merit or if Ektard just started it.

What? Why would the Flames have any interest in adding a rental player at this point?

I miss when Hockeycentral at Noon was actually on at noon in Alberta.

Who the hell is watching darts at 12 every single day?

I would love to see a Wideman for (Malcolm) Subban-type deal.

I can live with a 2nd for Hudler. Lots of decent options in the 2nd round and having more than 1 pick will help.

Sean Day comes to mind as well as Yegor Korshkov.

EDIT: As for Wideman to Boston, the Bruins have close to 2.8 in cap space (today) and 4.4 on D-Day and Subbans contract is on the books at 863k according to GF.

So if the Flames actually retained 2m in cap the trade could work right now but that'd leave the Bruins woefully tight (350k-400k) until they move Eriksson if they do.

I wonder if the Flames could manage to pry Khokhlachev out along with Subban.

A 2nd seems low value for Hudler to me, especially in a draft with weak depth (source: Corey Pronman). I pegged him as a late 1st kind of player.

I think Erickson would be a great Hudler replacement. Bet he'd sign for around 4-5 mil/year. MOst of the offense Hudler provides and a lot better defensively. Other than his concussion year, he's been a pretty good player at both ends. Lots of past smoke about the Flames wanting him too.

I love the days working remotely from home and there is European soccer on from 11.30 to 2pm - whether it is Champions league or something else. Other than that, can really expect much more than darts, poker, or watching folks on the radio talk on tv - never understood how that can be remotely interesting.

On a side note, I figure Hudler if he goes on a tear could get a late round 1st. The problem is - during his post game interview last night, he said he was 45%.

I'm guessing Ericksson will want north of 5 per and IMO he just isn't worth it. He's another left winger that we just don't need. For the money he'll be looking for I'd rather just spend a bit more and find a good RW for the first line.

Loui Eriksson is a LH/RW. Pretty sure he always has been. And he's the kind of winger the Flames sorely need. Has good size, can skate and scores when paired with the right guys (cough, gaudreau, cough cough)

All that aside, I not sure I would welcome the idea of trading for him unless you can negotiate a decent extension.

First of all, he was joking.

And second, if he can play that well while only 45%, wouldn't that increase his value?

I dunno, Iginla only got us a 1st and a couple mediocre prospects. As much as I'm sure Iginla and Feaster botched that deal it should show you Hudler's value probably isn't a 1st.

Gaborik didn't get a 1st. Hemsky didn't even get a 2nd. These are players similar to Hudler IMO.

A 2nd rounder is worth quite a bit. If he gets a 2nd back I wouldn't say we got low value, I'd be pretty ecstatic with the year he's had.

Every team is at least going to wait until the results of Wideman's appeal before trading for him. There's no point in speculating right now.

The more I think about it, having Frolik and a guy like Eriksson on the same team would be awesome.

I don't think you can compare the returns for various players because the market differs year to year. I know its a broken record, but we got nothing of note for Cammy 2 years ago, yet Glencross bagged us a 2nd and a 3rd last year. But last year, values were high and it was a sellers market. Nashville gave up their 1st for Cody Franson and Mike Santorelli. The Blackhawks gave up their 1st for Antoine Vermette. Pittsburgh gave up their 1st for David Perron. Chris Stewart went for a (2017) 2nd.

I don't think we have enough evidence to call what sort of market there will be this year, a buyers or a sellers. This is why I'd rather Treliving leaves it and hopefully someone else dives it and sets the market. Heck, if it means leaving things until the deadline, so be it. Someone will bite for Hudler, of that I'm almost certain. Given how many teams are in the hunt for the play offs and Hudler's modest cap hit, he could help a lot of teams. Lets be patient and see what happens elsewhere before declaring him to be worth X value imo.

Chatter among the league is that the Hawks are seeking to add either a top-four defenseman or a top-six forward, preferably a left wing to play with Toews and Marian Hossa. Despite Andrew Shaw's commendable play with Toews and Hossa, it seems as if the Hawks are leaning more toward targeting a forward to beef up their offense. That could enhance their puck-possession numbers.
hudler can play LW
