The city's admin are so incompetent. Hard to follow any of their water regs seeing how bad they have messed this whole situation up. They've made huge mistakes every step of the way through this entire process.

Doing way better than Edmonton the past few days, that's for sure. My mom sent me a pic from over the weekend, nasty stuff up there. But may have just been the usual Deadmonton stink cloud, not sure.

It was damn near perfect the way it was and now it's information overload with forecasted temperatures randomly scattered all over the screen with a big ass radar map in the middle. Just imagine how much money they spend getting this new look designed and implemented only to make the website worse.

Is it? Seems complicated.

Personally, I like Environment Canada. Tells me the current temp and forecast temp without any ads. Not sure what else I need from a weather site.

A weather map is complicated?

You can click on "Calgary" and get all the details you need.

Absolutely fantastic. And the best part of all this is evening/night where it's actually warm enough to enjoy being outside without having to bundle up.

Won't know that until I actually go outside but it looks really good from my office window.

Eh, it's definitely the worst it's been all summer for smoke today, but it's still pretty manageable. Still getting that full, untinted sun until mid-sunset anyway, and you cant see it hanging in the air in front of you. Edmonton's where they're getting that actual sun choking, day-ruining smoke.

Speaking of which, funny how on Weather Network, it's showing our current status as "smoke", when we're a 6 out of 10 on their smoke scale. Meanwhile in Edmonton they're at 10 out of 10 but Weather Network has their current status as "clear"..

I wouldn't bother with smoke reports and such from the weather network. Just go right to the source for particulate matter in the air with the public Purpleair network.

https://map.purpleair.com/1/l/i/mAQI...0454/-114.0054

You can set different time averages (10min, 30min, 1hr, etc), or real time reports from the stations. Way better way to judge air quality and trends. Calgary today started up in the PM2.5 range around the 140's and is currently below 100 now.

Sure, but many outdoor activity groups use the AQHI to decide whether to cancel or not, so it's still a pretty important resource.

Outdoor activity groups will use Environment Canada. The Weather Network may just use their data, so I'll still skip the middleman and get the AQHI index from Environment Canada directly.

The AQHI works well for outdoor groups wanting a single, unambiguous threshold for an entire city. But for everyone else, seeing the data from multiple sources and all of the detail is more interesting and useful.
