Has the PM or anyone from the liberals said it’s false?

Not that I've seen.
It all comes down to if the government will release the transcript.
Also Dong is simply suing over the conversation about whether he told the Chinese to keep the Michaels or not. He's not suing over the other allegations, or whether the phone call that he originally said he couldn't remember actually happened.

wonder what would happen if the story id not true. does han go back to/does he get invited to rejoin the liberals.
does his voting to support an inquiry signal that he was done with the LPC regardless of news story?

At this point do we know if the whistle blower is being funded by the Chinese government or not?

China interferes with the election then tells on itself to sow distrust in the process? That’s an interesting idea.

Just looks like a game of chicken right now. Looking forward to seeing if Global stands by their reporting, and if Han Dong actually sues.

In a way, I hope he does sue. It may actually bring out some truths as to what took place. I doubt we get any real action / information otherwise.

Although there are no huge surprises in today's budget, it is nice to see some attention being paid to opioids and suicide prevention amongst the big ticket items. It is, however, quite disappointing that we aren't seeing anything of substance to address the housing crisis that is only getting worse.

Sadly we saw the opposite, they announced some loosening of certain aspects of the foreign buyers ban

Yeah, I haven't seen a filed suit yet, just a lawyer hired, which is a standard strategy to get legal options.
What might give him cause is discovery and being put under oath with real teeth for lying.

Liberals also chose to do nothing with the 2019 foreign interference in their candidate elections as well. Liberals doing nothing should never be a bar to use to measure reactions.
Liberals doing nothing doesn't suddenly mean that Global's sources are bad. Neither Globe and Mail or Global have seen the transcripts. Globe and Mail felt it wasn't enough to run the story without being able to confirm the allegation, Global felt it was enough to run the story on.
Let's say the actual request to delay the Michaels didn't happen, but everything else including meeting with a Chinese diplomat secretly (which Han Dong did not deny) occured.
Should Han Dong be an MP in our house of commons? Even without the Michael delay allegation being true, this is incredibly dubious with what we do know that has been corroborated. Han Dong has no business being in contact with a foreign diplomat like he did.
This is exactly why we absolutely need a public inquiry on this (if Han Dong is innocent, he should as well).

Dental program to cost $7 billion more than initially expected ..... just like all the dental associations have been saying.
And to make it worse, quote from CBC article, "The program will be run by Health Canada with a "third-party benefits administrator" charged with actually managing program benefits — a structure that essentially leaves the provinces and territories out of the mix."
What a colossal waste of money! Every province already has a mechanism to administer this plan!

Overall a concerning budget.
A 40 billion dollar deficit which is higher then projected, and now the promise to returned to a balanced budget in 4 years is gone.
Revenues are up as the Government increases taxation, so they increased their spending.
Just choosing an entire segment with the name clean attached to it for a ton of subsidies doesn't fill me with security of the revenues that will ever come in from the clean energy segment. Also the disturbing thing is if a company wants to take advantage of these green subsidies they have to pay the prevailing union wages. So the subsidies will go to labor costs more then emissions reduction. And who in the application process decides on the wages?
The dental plan is a expensive sop to the NDP and isn't an investment its just spending in anything and in a normal budget could be covered by the increase in revenues for this year.
The Grocery rebate which works out to $20 month for singles and seniors and about $40 bucks a month for families is really not going to make that much of a difference with increases to food prices caused by the entry of the clean fuel standard and increase in the carbon tax and increase in other taxes. Very little to nothing was done in terms of housing except for backing off some foreign investment criteria
I was happy to see money for the opiod crisis as well as an increase in health care transfers. Those were necessary
But no matter what this budget could be described as high tax high spending high subsidies(in one segment) with the concept of a fiscal anchor going right out the window as the debt grows faster then the economy.

What about increased spending on our military, and support for the things that increases our income e.g. support for our resource development e.g. raw materials needed for clean tech. Were they not listening to President Biden.
