I had some golf plans fall through for Tuesday and I'm looking to fill two spots on a foursome. If anyone is interested in a spot or both spots let me know. It is Tuesday at Silvertip with a 10am shotgun start. It is a year end event but no competitive scoring that I am aware of. Includes a meal and cart, there are some prize holes and Park Distillery will be out there. $50 for the round.

They are both walkable. The walk from 9 green to 10 tee on Talons is a beotch if they don't have the shuttle.

Haven’t had a shuttle for a few seasons now. Unfortunately, guaranteed you will be walking if you aren’t powercarting. Walking from clubhouse to ridge #1 and ridge #9 green to #10 tee box also used to be shuttled, but now is a walk as well.

Wound up playing the ridge and to me the walk is right on the outer limits. You start with a good chug up to one and then from nine to 10 is a real hike.
I played ok for me. For the first time in forever I hit a green off the the tee, I could not get my second putt to fall, and on 18 I hit a reasonable tee shot, sort of whiffed my second and wound up draining what seemed like a 40 footer for an unlikely par. It was nice to have a long one fall, asi had about 4 or 5 putts die or fade away from the hole during the round.
The green fee was $120 for walking, which I thought was a little pricey for walking.

Walked Mt. Lorette and shot 88 today. Not a bad day.
Something about Kananaskis just doesn’t do it for me. $115 to walk is just too much for a bit of a boring course once you’re used to the views IMO.
Here's the post I started last night, but didn't want to colour your impression before you played it:
For the price they are charging the conditions are not where they need to be. In fact, I think they opened too soon. They either need to go to 6 days or resod the problem fairways.
I played Lorette August 12th and dear God half the fairways are complete horsesh*t. Holes 8, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 16 and 18 are borderline unplayable. I think I remember 18 normally being roped off and CPO pre flood, but I could be wrong. #8 in particular is a disaster, three in our group had tee balls plug, two of them were not found, it looked like it hadn't been mowed in weeks. The green on 14 needs to be completely rethought. If you've played with a back right pin, you know what I am talking about.
The fringes need work, it's like thin rough which is weird and the green approaches are either cement or you are plugged. If you can't keep them consistent then water the #### out of all of them or roll them all so they are close to the same. Most of the greens are elevated so judging it properly to front pins is kinda important.
The greens are pretty decent considering they are only a couple years old, but still very, very hard. They will hold a well struck shot, but that's more on descent angle than spin as the greens aren't super receptive yet. They kinda have to keep them a bit firmer to hold up to all the traffic that place gets.
This is the best time of year to be out there. Sitting on the patio and watching the sun go behind the mountain is one of the cooler apres golf experiences I've had.

I carried a tour bag for four rounds at Glen eagles... Anything is walkable, but sans shuttles County Hills is definitely the at the limit.
That sounds like it wouldn't be a lot of fun! I walk basically every round, but I have a friend who walks at Stewart Creek for the first nine and walks the back. That sounds pretty terrible.

I caddied for a Swede two years in a row. One at Sirocco and one at GlenEagles. He actually asked me to go to Springfield with him for a KFT event, but he couldn't pay and I couldn't get off work. He MC'd so was probably a good thing in hindsight.
It was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. I got paid in ProV1s. Some of the guys we got paired with ended up on Tour, one of them is on LIV, he was actually leading for a bit this week.
The most surprising thing to me was how crazily supportive they were of and for each other before and after the rounds. During the rounds they mostly kept to themselves and did their thing.
I'd strongly recommend volunteering if you have the chance. Only caveat is it's a large time commitment, easily 8+ hours a day on Thursday and Friday. The weekend rounds are much, much faster.

I didn't mean that part, I meant the physical carrying a tour bag on Glen Eagles!

Which course? Both are outstanding. You'll likely enjoy yourself more on valley than mountain as the back on mountain can be punishing because of the targets you are forced to hit, many of them semi-blind. The conditions there are always amazing and the service is second to none. Always a must pay when you're on the island! I'm peanut butter and jelly.
Played Valley and it was awesome.
Unfortunately it was a 2 man scramble birthday tournament and my partner hadn't golfed in about 5 years.
He made some good putts but he couldn't hit a shot all day.
Even the valley course was challenging the first time; some blind shots and tricky greens that I'd approach differently knowing it now.
We played at a members guest rate, so great value overall for experiencing the course.
We have family who live on the mountain and visit often, so will go at it again & the mountain course at some point soon.
