Shouldn't consider anyone but their choice of BPA, at 6.

I've listened to so many scouting prospectus guys and analysts over the last week handicap the draft, and I formed my opinion from others so I'm far from a pro, but my takeaways have been:

Dubois is a bit overrated, while a good player, his numbers are inflated because he is in a bad division in an offensive league and should be 7-9.

Juolevi is the best defenceman in the draft, mainly due to hockey sense and is a bit underrated due to the visibility of the flashy forwards. I'd be really happy if the Flames took him, I liked Sergachev's skillset more originally but heard some scouts talk down his hockey IQ and everybody loves Juolevi.

Nylander is consistently rated around 6... everybody likes him and agrees that he is in that second tier and has great upside. He's not at the elite level of the top 3 but I haven't heard anyone put him down and I think he seems like a great pick.

Tkachuk is a bit overrated due to memorial cup. While a great scorer, not a huge guy, not the best skater and is very much a (good) one way forward right now. For me it sounds like he should be in that second tier but the visibility pumped up his stock.

Brown is also getting overhyped a bit, he's big but still has a lot to prove and his conditioning and work ethic off ice has not been top tier. High ceiling but less certainty than the top guys and should go around 9-12 - the 4-6 talk is a bit crazy.

I want to see the Flames get Puljujarvi somehow, but failing that I'm stuck between Juolevi and Nylander right now. If Tkachuk slides I think he should be considered as he seems about on the same level as Nylander and Juolevi to me, and I hope we steer clear of Brown especially. I think Dubois is also in that second group but the scouts I heard made me think a lot about James Sheppard, a guy who really just put up the numbers because of easy competition.

Hmm, I think maybe Bob is drumming up interest and intrigue where there is none.

Flames can kiss 3 goodbye if the Jets pass on Laine

If he's last of the available top 6 forwards, I want Nylander first. However, I'd be over the moon if we landed Juolevi.

true... i think people see that we have some reasonable depth at defense currently.

after last year's draft, where our top 5 picks were spent on D (three for Hamilton and then kylington and anderson) it seem appropriate to try to address this organization's lack of elite talent on the wings...

People will ultimately come around, but nothing seems to suggest that Joulevi (whom i like best out of the defensemen avaliable) is head and shoulders above Nylander... In terms of variance, it seems like Nylander is generally well thought of and lands pretty much where we pick...

i do think that Keller and Jost both may have more drive than Nylander however.

Why is it such a shock if Laine goes 3rd?

I think we should prepare for the distinct possibility that the 3rd is priced out of our comfort zone and we pick comfortably at #6 with little fanfare or drama.

I guess because all the scouts and insiders have been saying he's a lock at 2 for weeks? I would love for the Jets to pass on him, rather he go to Columbus so we hardly face him. Not that Puljujarvi projects to be a bad player, he looks like a stud as well, but he doesn't look to be the gamebreaker Laine is.

This is by far the most likely end result.

Yes. Prepare for an "underwhelming" selection of Player X at 6OA.

On one hand excited for Friday, on the the hand, preparing to be underwhelmed. If we don't have a goalie by Saturday, our chances of signing Reimer will be pretty high.

Which means we're going to be adding another fantastic young player to the stable.

Whoever we pick at 6 on Friday (Nylander) goes directly to #1 Flames prospect in the system. Any time you add a prospect that usurps all others on your depth chart that's pretty exciting.

Yeah. Getting the 3 would have been better, but it was always a pipe dream really.

I'm in the Nylander or D camp, so whatever happens happens.

Didn't we pick Monahan with the #6? Seems like a great position to be in if our scouts are on point.

Ya I'm getting the feeling we are picking at 6 or trading down. I'm happy with Nylander or a D man.
