They built that up so well, and not only does swerve look great coming out of it, hangman does too

Best he can do is get told about it poorly and have a death match on Rampage after two vignettes on Dynamite.

Can I just say that Christian's body of work in AEW as the 'father figure' is absolutely A+ stuff. He is firing on all cylinders right now and is arguably leading one of the most fun storylines in wrestling. I hope this man never retires; when it comes to character work, he is a god amongst men.

Survivor Series/Wargames

Bianca Belair, Becky Lynch, Shotzi and Charlotte Flair defeat Damage Control

Ok, I thought this match was going to be later in the card. But I guess its job was to pump up the crowd. While it was a well executed match with a lot of big and damaging moves, and there was a micro story line that is going to lead to the unfair ejection of Bayley. I have to admit that I was disappointment in the end that once again we saw Backy, Charlotte and Bianca making Damage Control looking like dofuses leaving Bayley to try to survive a nasty 4 v 1 beatdown. Part of me is just kind of tired of Becky and Charlotte, and while I think Bianca is amazing, she's kinda like a slice of white toast, she's just not grabbing my imagination anymore. I think people forget that Baylay is the queen of in ring psychology and even though she plays a annoying heel, this match gained a lot of sympathy for her as time and again she rescued her team mates. I really thought that Damage Cntrl needed this win more then a one off amalgamation team.

The Miz vs Gunther.

Ok yes, Gunther is an amazing wrestling cyborg, but it seems like he struggles a little bit with the little details and sometimes selling or forgetting where he is in the ring. For example his selling of the Skull Crushing finale was really ugly. He went into the exposed turnbuckle gingerly and it just looked weak. at one point he got lost a bit and went to climb up the to the corner without the turnbuckle pad before realizing that was wrong and went across the ring. I know little bitching points right. But overall, there is nothing that he can't do and nothing that he can't make look devastating. Is he a future world champion? Absolutely, but he needs to work on the little things and on the non wrestlng parts of the job. As for the Miz, I'm a rarity in that I've always liked him, and he does have a great wrestling story that could be told better. This almost felt like two things. For one he was the plucky underdog given no chance, but when he landed the skull crushing finale the crowd blew up and made the count. The other part is this just felt like a torch passing by an older Miz who's running out of time. Lately he's been pulling out a lot of different moves that he never used before. He pulled out a hurricarana and then lately a nifty satellite DDT. But in the end he was submitted. The other cool moment is that there were a couple of homages to Bret Hart, with Miz doing a pretty fair outside the ring corner figure 4, as well as replicating a Bret pinning scenario from a long past summer slam. This was a good match, not like an elite match, but a very good match

I'm surprised but not surprised. Hopefully he wants to make amends for how he left and there's no backstage issues.

To WWE's credit, I bet he's on a very tight leash with little tolerance for his shenanigans.

Well those shenanigans go both ways. I'm sure it helps that Punk knows he's dealing with professionals and actual stars... Not an amateur in Tony Kahn, a nobody in Jack Perry, and others trying to hold their spot (Bucks).

Credit is due to Roman and Seth for probably giving the "go ahead" to bringing back Punk. I'm certain Triple H got their permission. There's huge money to be made bringing him back to the fold, especially with their history. That only helps. It's a shame AEW couldn't capitalize on that, I still think a Kenny/Punk or even Jericho/Punk feud would have made huge bucks.

I don't think he'd even try it in WWE. He'd just quit again.

No, I'm referring to professionalism in NOT trying to choke your boss and bite your coworkers.

Wasn't it Ace Steele who "bit" Omega, not Punk himself?

I'm not a big Elite guy but IMO Punk was the bigger issue in AEW, couldn't get out of his own way.

Hangman's promo was nothing and he made a huge deal of it.

He's the one that goes out and had that ridiculous press conference where he trashed everyone and invited them to his locker room.

And then he's the one that made a big deal about Jack Perry thing and confronted him back stage.

Thing is in WWE he's not going to be able to have such a big ego to act the way he did in AEW because it will get shut down.

He's got the fan support and name value and WWE is making their move. Can't blame them. Punk is average in the ring though and in the twilight of his active career. And eventually the sheen starts to wear off with him before he starts playing backstage politics.

Vince MacMahon was no doubt kept away from any of this too.

I do wonder how much the guys in the locker room knew.

Sean Ross is making it seem like nobody knew and HHH took over the show right at the end and they snuck Punk out.

Some videos show Rollins looking unhappy and Michael Cole talking to him.

Edit: Cole being involved in holding Rollins back here makes it maybe seem like it's not a work https://x.com/skwrestling_/status/17...043544671?s=46

If Triple H did this under wraps and didn't even tell the locker room? That's ballsy. I'm sure there will be a 'staff meeting' tomorrow morning to go over Punk protocol.

Rollins has called Punk selfish and a cancer in interviews

It's unfortunate - Punk helped Rollins out a lot in his early career. Hopefully Rollins cools down and they can work together. A feud between them would be great

There were some interesting drops in the press conference by HHH. I'm a different person he's a different person. Also as he said, we'll bring in anyone that wants to do business.

The WWE doesn't need to bring Punk in for ratings, or PLE buys, they're both extremely high right now. There's not a threatening competitor to them right now. They certainly don't have weak rosters or weak upper cards right now.

As HHH also stated this is a wwe, which is a strong bomb at Vince's feet who was infamous for stirring the pot back stage.

We know that Punk is older, he's getting to that point of being injury prone, but again he is a conversation starter and he can pop an audience, and he's someone that they can have him feud through out the card and its going to work. This feels like an indulgence signing. For the WWE because they can, for Punk, its an I told you so that he can function in WWE and pop the card.

I very much doubt that there will be much focus on his time in AEW, the WWE doesn't need to do that. It will be interesting to see if AEW uses it, they can't seem to resist it.

Now, bring back AJ.
