Yeah the storyline is overly tedious. I know they apparently have an endgame, but Rhodes/Reigns 2.0 at Mania just doesn't do it for me. It should have been a fresh feud... Jey should have gone over. The only fresh possibility is Gunther, but that isn't going to happen.

I know quite a few people thought Cody going over at this past Mania would have been too cliche, but this is exactly what I was worried about. They're just treading water right now, so they're only options are to keep Roman from defending too often, and then put him over via interference so their babyfaces don't lose too much steam in the process.

Classic example of booking yourself into a corner.

Zayn going over Roman at Mania 39 would have given them a Bryan at WM 30 level of pop and fan moment.

But they ignored the natural momentum to try to shoehorn Cody into a story that he didn't need to be in.

Zayn over Roman at Mania 39 and then Cody over Zayn at Summerslam probably would have been the best outcome. (Also think WWE avoids face vs face title matches too much).

If anything the problem now was they kind of just ended the destruction of the bloodline story in the worst possible way with Jimmy going back to Roman and Jey just leaving, and probabky used the LA Knight title match too soon.

Not that this has anything to do with any current discussion, but here's what the Great Muta (my hero) is up to in retirement, which makes absolutely no sense if you've never watched wrestling, and it's perfect:

If there is a successor that will take the Great Muta character, I am all for it. Honestly having multiple wrestlers continue to perform as a character in wrestling seems like something that promoters don't do enough of. It can't be done with every character, but masked characters have a major advantage. The Muta character is PERFECT for passing on to another 'host' and having another generation witness Muta in the ring.

I am excite.

I think that makes better sense than Diesel or Razor Ramon.

AEW debuted Ronda Rousey on ROH and bought her out with Shaffir who is terrible.

Why spend 7 figures on Rousey and put her on the C show?
The crowd reaction was pretty mild too. Ronda didn't help herself with her second run in WWE.

Seven figures? This is a short deal. They worked the same match the night before.

You think it cost them less?

You really think Tony Khan would pay Ronda Rousey a seven figure contract, and have her debut on an ROH taping?

She also showed up on an indie show doing the same match with Shafir, Athena, and Starks. Did she get seven figures for that appearance too?

No. To both

Thought this was a dumb spot and sure enough, it resulted in an injury. MJF has a dislocated hip now.

Yup.

I saw a post today about how AEW was unlucky because injuries derailed their momentum the last 18 months.

And it has nothing to do with luck. You book as many high risk spots in the matches every week as they do and it's going to end up with your roster battling injuries all the time.

They have such a talented roster too, that they could have great matches without having to rely on the spots and death matches all the time

At least that one was actually a long time feud that they build to a payoff death match over the course of 2 PPVs.

Instead of their normal random death matches or blood and guts matches on a Wednesday Dynamite after 2 weeks of build.

Its been reported that it was a dislocated hip that they popped back in and a shoulder injury. He's lucky he's not expected to miss TV time.

But that's just a stupid spot, he doesn't need to do a dumb spot like that, whoever convinced him that it was necessary was stupid.

I don't think anyone convinced him. It was supposed to be an announce table spot, but the table collapsed prematurely and he improvised with this one. Just a very dumb thing to do on MJF's part.

Wait that's Santino's daughter.

I loved Santina and if you don't like it you can shut your mouth John Chena.
