They better settle the damn strikes soon as post is suffering big time and another month or two and there won't be anymore post and VFX houses left to finish the filming. Let alone production workers to actually work on the films.
Not looking good so far. When this started in May I figured we would be back up and running by October. I don't see that happening now. It would take a good month or two just to crew back up. Most networks have already cancelled their big shows for the year so it now falls on the movie producers to get things back to the negotiating table.
ILM has closed two shops so far, Singapore and Australia I believe. Two small VFX houses have closed here in Vancouver in the past week as well. Neighbors do a lot of print work for film and they are close to defaulting on their lease for the warehouse. Lots of friends draining savings just to pay the bills. I'm still working but the wife has been off since April so we are feeling the squeeze for sure.
The UK and France already have a system in place they pays writers and creators based on the streaming numbers of their shows so it's not like they are asking for anything crazy.

From everything I’ve heard it’s really just coming down to greed. As unfortunately is usually the case. It’s not unreasonable for writers to expect royalties of some sort from steaming service contracts.
I’m optimistic something will get done but feel for all those who are being directly affected by it. Hoping your wife and friends can all get back to work asap.
The thing that bugs me the most about the aquaman movies:
Who are they for?
Aquaman fans? Huge LOL very few nerds are even fans of aquaman.
Ladies? The choice of Mamoa makes me think it's ladies, but the movies themselves are action and not story or love oriented. So that doesn't make sense either.
needless wedge in to combat Avengers movies with Justice League? This was what I thought it was, but now that they've done 3 of them it doesn't hold water.
Doesn't look like WB is interested in putting any money into marketing a movie without a future.
I hope this doesn't sour Momoa to much.. because I still think he would be the perfect Lobo.

Mamoa has come right out and said in interviews that he has a future in DC playing other characters besides Aquaman. If he doesn't get cast as the Main Man it will be an epic miss of an opportunity.
The first Aquaman movie made a BILLION dollars and WB in their infinite wisdom decided not to put any money marketing the sequel, and force James Waan into multiple re-shoots and constantly changed the ending. This movie deserved better, the first one is not a masterpiece but it's a visually brilliant thrilling adventure film that's alot of fun.

WB is just trying to cut their loses, and the new people want to start fresh. The Aquaman 2 budget is $205 million. The movie will probably make at least half of what the first one did.
They are probably worried that if A2 is too big, it will have the effect of draining profits from future DC projects and confuse the audience.
Plus you have the Amber Heard fiasco. DC has politely kept her around, but I can't imagine she's in any future plans. They are letting her make a quiet entrance out the back.
The only thing going for Aquaman 2 now is that a lot of its competition was pushed to 2024. There's not much else being released in December. Maybe even less if the strike continues for longer.
