Someone has a really high opinion of themselves...and a low opinion of everything/everybody else.

Poor game by the Jays tonight though....that damn Dickey giving up all those runs again.

Its almost as if the team is missing 2 of their better hitters and are forced to play callups and backups in key parts of the order.

Season is basically over for them.

I don't have a low opinion of anyone who presents a counter argument. I have a very low opinion of those who take pop shots because they don't agree with my opinion, yet provide nothing to refute it. Which I acknowledge I could have I overreacted on Calculaso here. He was the recipient towards pent up anger about other posters.

As much as I hate the Yankees, I have to admit these guys always seem to have a ridiculous stable of prospects that are major league ready. I wonder if it's a function that they spend ridiculous money to fill their bigger lineup holes so they never really have to trade the true Blue Chip prospects away.

First off, it's a completely meaningless narrative that you've created just so that you can either be "right" (in nobody's mind but your own) or be pleased that the Jays are doing so well.

Second, although he is striking out a heck of a lot, he's still getting on base - 16 walks +13 hits for a .290 OBP since the all-star break. Great? No. Superstar that he was earlier in the year? No. Automatic Out? Hardly.

Of course, this doesn't fit your negativity... so who cares. You're obviously just looking for a pat on the back for being "right".

Those are terrible stats (never looked them up though). How many games have the Jays played since the all-star game? 30? He's getting a hit like one every three games and that's ignoring the fact that he had a couple two hit games in there and I think a three hit game so there's tons of hitless games in there.

This guy is batting cleanup wedged in between Edwin and Tulo. He's the only guy they can pitch to and his OBP is still pretty bad.

Saunders batting average since the all-star game is .206. They really got to get him out of the top 6. Hopefully he can build some Confidence back up at the bottom and take some walks in between Smoak and Upton.

Every time Smoak comes up to bat I can hear Bob Ueker from Major League....And Smoak is 0 for the century against this guy....but he does have several foul tips.

Still can't believe they signed Smoak to 2 more years. But Zaun likes the deal so that's something.

I was hoping Kratz would be the answer to getting Thole out of the lineup when the roster expand in September, but taking a quick look at the Bisons stats, he's been putrid at the plate in AAA. His batting average is even worse than Thole's at the major league level.

Jeez - reading this thread you'd never know the Jays are tied for first in the toughest division in baseball, and is 3 games up in the wildcard.

They are doing pretty well for missing their entire starting outfield - they are 5-5 in their last 10, the exact same as Baltimore and 1 less win than the Red Sox. Their starting pitching continues to be good, and their bullpen looks much better than it did earlier. I'm not concerned at all; there will be many good and many frustrating games between now and October.

How is Carrera doing since the All Star break.

I distinctly remember you saying Zeke would be a better LF than Saunders in that spot...

Who else do you put there right now.

It is almost like you fail to view an entire season as it is. People have hot streaks and cold streaks.

I think you could just give the negativity a rest for a bit, man. We get it. Thole is ####ty. Smoak wasn't worth the extension. Saunders is cold. Dickey is frustrating. WE GET IT! we have all seen it, we don't need a reminder.

For a life long fan as you claim, you certainly don't have any appreciation whatsoever with what the Jays have done the last few years. They are winning, they are competitive! Enjoy the GD ride, because next year Bautista and Edwin are gone, we have the 3rd oldest team in the majors and no prospects. Enjoy it while it lasts and shut the hell up

When I said that, the Jays were rumored to be in another every day outfielder (Bruce), and I said if that was the case and once Bautista was healthy, Saunders would be the odd man out and that Zeke was a better bench player than Saunders as he was a switch hitter, with speed, and a better fielder. And I fully stand by that.

Zeke has been injured, so i'm not sure why you are asking where's he's been. I would 100% take a healthy Carrera as the every day LF over Saunders the past month and a half.

And because i've been a Jays fans so long, I know goddamn well this isn't going to last, which is why I get so angry when they don't push all their chips in when they are so close to winning it all.

Jays got Pineda tonight, I suspect they'll get some runs tonight. If he's not hitting his spots with his fastball, he's the type of pitcher the Jays roast.

Whenever TAO posts about the Jays, this comes to mind:

REALLY? You think the Jays are going to roast a guy with a 5.07 ERA and a 6-10 record? Pretty sure most teams have roasted him this season at one point or another. LOL.

Also pretty sure most pitchers are going to roasted if they don't hit their spots with a fastball.

I'm honestly not sure their is a fan base I can think of in recent history that gets as upset or frustrated about a first place team than the Jays have this year. Forums, twitter, call in shows everyone just pours on this team and yet they are a top 5 team in baseball and leading their division. It's crazy.

That's not directed at anyone either its just a general observation.

It's for the exact reason I do. There's people that have been waiting for this since '93 and people don't feel everything is being done that is necessary to win and that really gets people going when most of them know the Jays won't have another opportunity for another long time. The moves they make are too financially motivated, and it's drives people nuts. Rogers has created a real
Hornets nest, that much is obvious.

People seem to think I'm happy to see the Jays fail. That couldn't be further from the truth. If I had a choice between the Jays winning the World Series once and the Flames winning the Stanley Cup, i'm picking the Jays without hesitation.

Tied for the lead in the AL-E and two games up on the Wild Card. Yup seasons over.

No you didn't. You adamantly stated that Carrera would be the starting LF.

http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showpos...postcount=3837

This was also well into the season, after the Jay Bruce scenario ended.

Carrera is hurt, right before his amazing 1 for 15 stat line.
