What an absolute ghoul.

How can this Gulf of Mexico name change be “official” like I’m reading? I don’t think a president can change the name of an international body of water any more than he can direct a hurricane with a sharpie.

He can change it for what the US calls it only. It'd be kind of like Canada deciding to call it the Gulf of Saskatchewan. The only people who would actually call it that are other Canadians. He can say that America will call it whatever they want to, and they can...but the rest of the world is under no obligation to recognize it or play along.

Indeed. And this is only my impression, but I'd be surprised if the majority of the inheritance money didn't move to people who are already wealthy, aggregating more wealth upwards.

In a clear violation of the First Amendment, Trump barred an AP reporter because of AP's resistance to use "Gulf of America".

It looks like Google and Apple have given in and started using the new name as well, which could end up being a big deal considering how many people use their mapping services.

I don’t think that’s a rights violation but it’s definitely childish, as usual.

It always makes me chuckle how the French completely rename countries.

Germany and England have some legit beef, and china's sounds racist.

Can we start a petition on change.org to name it the Gulf of Scamerica or something? I don't know if that's just an American site or not.

Yes, it’s weird. I was surprised at how many Trumpers are in the local rock music community. All those dudes at Pipers Pub in Pompano doing those Ozzy tributes… MAGA!

I love the music but not spending much time at a place where so many brag about being anti-vaxxers.

Remember when the US was pissed off France wouldn't support their immoral war in Iraq, and decided to start calling french fries freedom fries? Americans can be such petty fragile little bitches, and they are now led by the pettiest most fragile group of bitches we've ever had the displeasure of having all in one place.

This is why Chretien is the best PM ever. He told Bush to eff off helping him fight his fake war. Pretty sure Preston Manning and Harper would have sent our troops into Iraq.

My father has money but by the time I inherit anything from him I will probably be in my mid-60's at the earliest (knock on wood) so my boys are probably the ones that will see the most benefit.

The large transfer of wealth is just starting. True, most beneficiaries will be in their mid-50s. Many are receiving large gifts while their parents are still alive.

Typical estates I saw in Calgary were $1-2 Million, with two children. No inheritance tax in Alberta.

Depends where you are. In the US maps call it GOA, in Mexico it will be labelled GOM. The rest of the world will show it as GOM (GOA).

To be fair, the vikings called it Greenland as a way to attract settlers. Erik the Red lied about the prospects of the land to promote it.

If that isnt the most Trump thing ever, i don't know what is.

It's actually kind of weird how other languages/countries call a foreign country their own made up name.

Why do we call it Germany? Germans call it Deutschland. It's not hard to pronounce.
