I thought that was about as satisfying a conclusion as you could expect. But I'm sure there is lots of rage incoming.

I had a fun giggle watching Brienne of Tarth writing several pages of delicate penmanship in full amour.

It wasn't a bad finale; just underwhelming. At least Ghost finally got his pat.

In Toronto for the weekend. My girlfriend ordered HBO so I could watch on her big screen.
Checking in but realized the finale has not aired yet in Calgary.
Sigh.

It aired in Red Deer, and is just as disappointing as the region itself.

All wrapped up into a tidy bow. That was an ending made by people wearing kiddy gloves.
This final season may not have gone the way a lot of people wanted but I am just damned grateful we got 8 seasons of amazing fantasy TV filled with a myriad of amazing story and character. Sad its gone and sad it ended. Not mad like so many about how it ended either.

Hated it.
The two biggest plots since episode 1, the white walkers and Jon’s story had 0 payoff.
Seriously wtf was the entire point of Jon? Why did his story matter? why did he come back to life? Why was him being a Targ matter one bit in the end?
Ugh

It's strange the immediate void we feel once a classic show is over for good.
The only interesting part of the final episode was John Snow becoming the new Vance Rayder. That is if I'm correct that he went off with the wildlings rather than staying at the wall with the knight's watch.

I think this one is satisfying If people accept that what they want isn’t necessarily what the characters would do. In general D+Ds failures were all moving chess pieces or depowerimg Danys army. Outside of not building into Danys heal turn effectively they have done a real good job on the characters and giving them satisfying ends. So this type of episode as long as they don’t try to shock us should be satisfying.

I would have enjoyed watching both of your versions.

In light of the last two seasons the ending wasn't terrible. Writers killed the show by compressing the story and ruining specific character. Still think D&D murdered Dany more than Jon did. Most satisfying part was Drogon living.

I’m not a huge fan of how we got here but I thought they nailed it. Not everything was perfect, and I really wish I hadn’t read about the odds favouring Bran, but wow I’m impressed how well they recovered.
Starks rule the world, Unsullied are all retired?, 6 Kingdoms ruled by a bunch of rejects in Kings Landing (what a sitcom that would make), Jon retires up north (lol at the people who freaked at his last interaction with Ghost).
I laughed when Sam suggested Democracy. That’s an angle I’ve wanted to see and I thought the reaction from the other Lords was spot on.
Dany’s craziness was off the charts. She was Darth Vader one minute and Gandhi the next.
This about sums up my thoughts:

Dany’s vision in House of the undying showed the ending. So it seems this was always the plan.

It could have been snow. Or it could have been burned by Cersei with the wildfire.
This may have been the preferred ending but they had other options.

I meant the part where she sees Khal Drogo and her son right after, like she had died.

I enjoyed the ending overall. While this last episode was largely underwhelming, I think that was by design as the animosity was de-escalated and it was about power redistribution.
The most common complaints for this season still carry water now that it's all over. I wish a couple tweaks had been made the shift the emphasis and drama a little in either direction.
IE: Bran having just a small amount more impact, the Night King having more personal involvement in his final battle, and Euron being more balanced (not an amazing elite sniper in episode 4 then his forces decimated in episode 5).
Felt like just a couple tweaks could have solved many of the issues I had.
I would have liked to see: The Night King actually fights Jon in episode 3, Bran intervenes by warging into Rhaegal giving him a bit more of a role than just bait, Jon is saved but the undead swarm Rhaegal and actually kill him then. Daenerys would have felt betrayed once again because Bran sacrificed Rhaegal, adding to her unstable mental state.
Oh well, incredible show overall and I can look forward to the remaining books eventually as well for some more depth.

The dragon melting the iron throne after his mother died seemed fitting. If she can’t have it, no one can.
