Superman is by far the worst superhero. We get it, you're god but with a peanut allergy. I'm super invested in your story.
Superman actually has a lot of weaknesses (beyond the obvious Kryptonite and magic) that can be exploited:
1. He can't be everywhere at once.
2. He always plays by the rules.
3. He's not dumb, but not all that smart.
4. He has strong emotional attachments to his friends/family.
5. He's naive.
This was why Lex Luthor was always his best villain. Not someone who's going toe to toe with Superman in a fight, but someone who is ultra intelligent but with no morals and a master manipulator.
There are many good Superman storylines, and they typically rely on his opponents exploiting Superman's good nature.
He's also not supposed to be the most powerful being in the universe. He just fights harder than the bad guys. I kind of like where Gunn is going with this, as we immediately see a pretty beaten up Superman in the first part of the trailer.
Not super excited for this, but the trailer was definitely enough for me to give Gunn the benefit of the doubt.

Yeah, but DC has that problem with a lot of their characters which is why Batman and the Flash are among the only interesting ones.
1. Wonder Woman - Invincible, Immortal, Super Strong just not as strong as Superman. Has whip, no Fedora, willing to travel.
2. Aquaman - Invincible, Immortal, Super Strong just not as strong as Superman. Speaks with Fish. Grumpy about it.
3. Green Lantern - Invincible, Super Strong just not as strong as Superman. Mustn't get too far from a charging outlet. Dislikes Yellow. Mustard allergy.
And you can go on and on.
I remember watching that battle in Justice League against Metallica or whoever and it was just ridiculous.
It was like whack-a-mole with children. Wonder Woman and Aquaman are invincible but so is WhiteSnake but none are strong enough to kill or hurt the other so its just back and forth and back and forth.
I'm not going to disagree with you at all though, Superman is the lamest, most boring character.
The studios always think: "Well, Superman HAS to win. ALWAYS!"
Well guess what...thats boring. He is invincible, all powerful and can never lose? Gee...I wonder how this movie is going to end.

If you thought this season would have a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.
Invincible is probably my favorite superhero content right now, and the Viltrumites are a parody of Kyptonians with the exact same powers. So good stories with "invincible" heroes can be done.

Going back to Jiri's mention of the DCAU's Justice League. They dumbed down everyone's powers, and it benefited the dynamic of that show a great deal.
I'm ntrigued with this one, even if it's odd that DeNiro is playing dual roles. Barry Levinson hasn't directed a mainstream movie in years, I didn't even realize he was still working. Written by Pileggi as well, it should be interesting.

I don't know it seems like DeNiro just keeps recycling similar characters.

I don't think DeNiro can pull off playing multiple characters. All I saw was him talking to himself in that trailer, they didn't feel like separate people at all. Put someone like Gary Oldman in that role and I doubt you could even recognize that it's the same actor

It feels like the "gerontocracy" has a heavy handed grip on Hollywood right now.
Like they've double cast an 81 year old here. I love De Niro. But he waddles around like an 81 year old, not a 60 year old gangster. I'm sure he signed on specifically because they offered to let him play across from himself... but he's firmly in uncanny valley in that trailer.
Surely to hell with a little effort we can find a new leading man for a good series of Mafia films.

Hollywood has always made movies to target old people using the greats of yesteryear. If anything it's more toned down now. You likely didn't notice, because you were too young to know/care who those people were.
You'd have old Western stars pumping out western movies until death sometimes. Deniro is kind of like the John Wayne of Gangster movies.
