Anybody watching The Studio with Seth Rogen? It's a hilarious satire of modern Hollywood and kind of a spiritual sequel to Robert Altman's the Player, with plenty of extended takes/tracking shots, various celebrities and directors playing themselves, and great dialogue.
There's even a character named Griffin Mill (Bryan Cranston), which was the name of Tim Robbins' character in The Player, so it appears this show shares the same universe. So good.

We’ve been watching it. It’s great. We’ve also been watching Jon Hamm’s new show Your Friends and Neighbors.

Some disasters take the form of ####splosions, and others happen bit by bit, with one thing going wrong after another until a full-on collapse can no longer be averted. “The Pediatric Oncologist,” the sixth episode of The Studio’s first season, contains both varieties. For Matt, the ####splosion is safely contained within the trailer to a new Spike Jonze movie starring Johnny Knoxville and Josh Hutcherson, a satire of “medical disinformation” in which a zombie plague spreads via explosive diarrhea. His slow-motion disaster takes the form of a black-tie gala in which he makes one unforced error after another out of insecurity.
I thought the cancer doctors were all dicks. Matt made some good arguments about the value of his work.
Your Friends And Neighbors is really good too. Apple is delivering the best programs overall.

Did the right thing and signed up to Paramount instead of pirating and I can't turn off the f###ing subtitles on anything. Either in a browser or on the app.
So sick of paying money for garbage.

His reasoning is a bit iffy on the Amazon Prime front. Pretty sure there are ad-free options.
Not sure why anybody would want a smart tv. I have a dumb 10 yr old Samsung and an AppleTV and don’t go through the same hassles as other people seem to be incurring. Seems like grasping at straws for justifications to pirate, I guess.

Paying for a platform is infinitely more convenient than pirating. Ads aren't even all that intrusive after living with traditional TV for 40 years. The problem is that some apps conflict with some casting/streaming devices, and if you're even a year or two behind on hardware you'll experience something as stupid as not being able to turn off subtitles.
At least, that's what I'm assuming it is. Although I still can't switch it off using a browser, and the service keeps cutting in and out.

Haven't watched the funny quirky British game shows in a while, Taskmaster and Would I Lie to You, but I'll have to reset with Jason Mantzoukas on Taskmaster

I shut the Studio off after 10 minutes. Insufferable.
Kind of what I figured. Thanks!
An old hbo one that I never watched until recently was rome. No cgi, tremendous dialogue and really well done. It's like watching a very expensive play. How did I never see this before??
