Designated hitters aren't exactly known as off-season fitness freaks. I would think the many, many off seasons, plus "playing" a position where you are expected to go to the plate and smack home runs and little else has caught up to him.

Jason Phillips is actually the slowest player in the league, coming behind Bengie - Frank Thomas is a burner compared to him.
I don't understand why either, Phillips has no excuse to be so damned slow (not fat or completely oddly shaped).

He looks like a FedEx truck driver or something. A delivery guy.
Either way, he does come across as a guy who would ever be a pro athlete. but, fair play to him. He's hacked out a pretty good career for himself.
And what's with those stupid glasses!??!?!

Why does Jim Hughson refer to the splitter as the "fashion pitch of the 90s?"

I think they're going to have to change the name of the "Frank Thomas 500 Home Run Flex Pack" that has its first game on July 6 vs. the Indians with the way things are going ... seems like the bats are finally figuring it all out.
Nothing better than a ball game on a Sunday afternoon when your team is playing this well.

McGowan and Marcum are definitely giving me hope for this team for the next few years. They are proving that they aren't just good prospects...they are legitimate starters in the MLB.

Man, how often does that happen. Oh well good to see him recover and get the complete game shut out. Blue Jays at long last finally get back to .500 after failing to do so like 5 times in the past month.

It is very nice to be back at .500, lets hope for the best on a long and hard road trip that includes stops in Minnesota, Seattle and Oakland.

a solid road trip could be the key in really making something of this season. winning each series would be huge.

At this point in time the Jays would need to be about 22-25 games over .500 from here to even get a sniff of the wild card. So with 88 games left they need to come in at like 55-33 type of thing. That pretty much means winning every series and not being swept for the rest of the season. Tough tough taks.

tough for sure, but stranger things have happened, that's for sure. colarado was just on a ridiculous tear through late may and june, once you're rolling it's a matter of keeping it going.

For sure it will be a tough task to make up 6 games in the wild card race, but if they can get (and stay) healthy then they may have a shot.
