Not the worst thing to lose tonight I guess. And no apparent injuries to any Panthers. I didn’t realize they would have had that much time off

They could have gone on vacation with that time off with the Canes.

I think the finals starts June 7, I could be wrong. That's what they said on Sportsnet a few days ago.

June 7-23 if they follow the new format of 2 days off when they switch cities.

Well, Carolina broke the streak so good for them.
Now they can do the Toronto and get crushed at home in an elimination game.

So even when Dallas wins Game 7 6-1 on June 2nd, there are 5 days until the Cup final starts?!?
What a momentum killer. What neutral fan is going to re-engage after that much time off, no matter how good the conference finals were.
I'm sure the players would rather just get it done. Two full days off after the conference final, then every 2nd day until it's over.
With this nonsense schedule, it's no wonder Carolina won last night. The last thing Florida wants is 2 weeks off.

This is by design by the broadcasters. Along with the games being on a specific date (as well avoid NBA conflict), they may want a little bit of time to breathe between the Conference finals and the Final to let the players rest to allow for better quality games. It's a grind up to that point for roughly 7 weeks.
Once the games begin, fans will reengage. It's not like it's 2 weeks like the Super Bowl.

With the NHL signing with ESPN and TNT they have to go with the TV wants as noted by Joborule.
It seems broadcasters want game 7 on Sunday(NBA)/Monday(NHL).
NBA Finals will start June 5th a Thursday. They go Thursday-Sunday-Wednesday-Friday-Monday-Thursday-Sunday.
NHL will be Sat-Mon-Thurs-Sat-Tuesday-Friday-Monday(23rd).
It is designed to get media days in as well.

Good sign in Florida. I suppose in fairness they don’t get that kind of weather so not common enough of a word to know what letters it needs.
