Well certainly did not expect to be sitting in a cold arena for five periods and change!
- Great rally by the boys to tie it up and deserved as thought they carried the play at evens in regulation. Getting to overtime in a short turnaround road game where you have a 6-3 powerplay deficit is always something to be proud of.
- Overtime was a different story as the Wranglers lost their steam and the second OT was mostly all Firebirds.
- Unintentionally sat beside the scouts’ reserved seats - great view of course!
- As soon as the game was special teams all eyes were glued to the Leafs-Senators then Wild-Golden Knights on laptops. Good reminder that when projecting players, if you can’t play at evens in the minors you have no hope in the NHL and special teams are mostly an afterthought.
- Notable crew from the Wild - obviously means preparing for a Rossi-to-Flames draft day trade. Nothing to do with the valley being a great spot to visit in April or looking at the Firebirds. No chance: Chris Kelleher (assistant general manager), Richard Park (pro scout), Brian Hunter (pro scout). Was intriguing to see an AGM not at the Wild’s playoff game…
- Also there was the Predators’ head amateur scout, Tom Nolan, there on his own.
- All seemed to be off to the Oilers-Kings game tonight.
