My want for Canada this tournament was to be the last team from CONCACAF standing so everything now feels like gravy.
The US floundering with poor coaching and tactics and Mexico in the midst of what seems to be a talent drought makes me very optimistic that Canada could begin to dominate the region. One step at a time
We will see. US will sort itself out after they get past Berhalter.
Canada hasn't done great vs Panama lately.
Mexico is always there. As is Costa Rica.
We lost to Jamaica to have to play a minnow to get to Copa.
The confidence and experience boost from Copa and Marsch taking over will push the program ahead for sure especially within Concacaf...but we still need to score more goals against 11 man sides.
Therese American talking heads are rich. Bitching and moaning about it not being a good game…who cares, it’s knockout football, and there were a lot more chances the they give credit for.
Dempsey to boot, both who played on American teams who would kill to be in a semi final of a major tournament and played junk scrappy soccer his entire tenure.
All the stars on the chests of Uruguay and Brazil speak for themselves.
Carli Lloyd as well who bullied teams and players.
These South American footballers are as shady as their refs. It's like two whole teams of Corey Perrys.
And hopefully this is the level where Jesse Marsch can get Canada to. Maybe not all the way, but it’s another tool in the toolbox for a team that wants to punch above their weight
I know that rules should be as called, but I firmly believe if Alistair Johnston goes down when he got the head butt that the Peruvian player gets a red card. Force the ref and VAR to intervene, don’t be a good, tough Canadian boy. You gotta meet them at their level sometimes. Especially in Concacaf/Conmebol. Europe is a different game

Unfortunate that you must 'oiler' the embellishment on legitimate penalties to get the proper call.
Saw Endrick only completed one pass and it was on the kick off to start the match. Didn't think that was possible what the hell lmao. That's impressive.

Ya I could not believe that stat. It’s incredibly irresponsible in my opinion for Brazil to start a 17 year old striker in the biggest game of the tournament who lacks any sort of experience at this level outside of friendlies. They barely played him all tournament and then when the pressure is at its highest they throw him in the fire vs maybe the best defence at this tournament to get bullied all game. The kid is not Pele, R9 or Romario, he is very raw but has promise. Giving him the iconic no.9 shirt shows again pure arrogance from the decision makers of Brazil, hoping they get bailed out by some sort of saviour. The kid should be playing the olympics or the U-20 world cup, not even R9 was given the no.9 shirt at 18, Romario did not even make his international debut until he was 21.
Also, the premier league midfield trio was so embarrassing. In this era where the midfield dominates Brazil does not have a functional one. So many side to side passes and lack of composure. Paqueta must have had some money on Brazil losing with how poor he looked.
It’s a mentally weak team with no leader or proper coach. At this point the 2026 world cup seems like a complete write off as Brazil will not change. They will keep this coach and the same arrogant mentality that has plagued every Brazil team for quite some time

The (non-TSN) commentators on Copa are one of the major differences between the Euro telecast and it. The Copa games are generally more exciting but having those American commentators just brings it down. The British Euro guys are at least clever with the turn of phrase when they are calling a game boring.

I miss John Helm.
Now there was a man...I would watch any game he was calling. He was hilarious. If a game was boring he'd tell you and then let you know why and become the most exciting part of the match.
That guy was glorious.
