As for the new poll that's been put up, I have the Flames better than San Jose and Anaheim, but worse than everyone else, including CBJ, Chicago, Montreal and the Sens. I also believe that one of the vets will be moved during the season, but they'll voice their request quietly.

Wouldn't be the Flames if they didn't draft in the mid-teens for the first year of a rebuild.

We aren’t even close to bottoming out yet. There’s still lots of ripping apart yet to be done.
Soon enough we will start hearing vets asking for trades. We have a long way to go yet.
If this is the path we are taking, It’s important that we are bad while trying to win.
And
The seats need to be at least 70% full too
I dunno about that. Huberdeau can't be traded. That leaves Kadri, Coleman, Backlund, Weegar, and possibly Andersson as vets with value? Out of a whole roster that's not very many players. Kuzmenko, Coleman, and Lomberg all look like good candidates to be gone by the end of the year.
I wouldn't say there's "lots" of ripping apart to do. Most of the vets are gone and the Flames are, correctly, waiting until several players have more value to move them. It's more like the ripping apart is largely done with a few stragglers left.
They still need to ice a cap compliant team of some kind.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Kadri, Coleman, Weegar, Andersson and Kuzmenko go yet.
Making the floor won’t be a problem.
If those guys ask to go you better let them. Make the floor with bad contracts for picks. This is a rip to the studs

Nobody is picking up a full year of Lomberg at 2 million a year. He can’t be moved until next year imo. Coleman, Rasmus and Kadri all have decent value now. As does Weegar but I hope they do not trade him.
I can't see Weegar asking to be moved Fter coming out to the media saying what he did. He's here for the long haul.
I agree and I suspect that Kadri is too (which I am personally fine with). I still think Rasmus gets moved sometime this year and an off chance that Coleman does. If 4 years of Tyler Bertuzzi is worth 5.5 million then 3 years of Coleman at 4.9 million is definitely a tradeable and attractive contract.
Whenever I read the title, I read it to the song "F the police" so I asked CHATGPT to write a song "This is a rebuild" to "F the police". Spoilered for those that don't want to read it.
Spoiler!
(Verse 1) Rolling into the Saddledome, we’re changing the game, No more living in the past, it’s a new era for the Flames. Trade the vets, get the rookies, yeah, we’re breaking the mold, From the first puck drop, it's the new story told.
(Chorus) This is a rebuild, said the Flames fanbase, From the red mile to the stands, we’re finding our place. This is a rebuild, time to ignite, From the bottom to the top, we’re ready to fight.
(Verse 2) Gone are the days of the old regime, Bringing in the youth, we’re building the dream. Draft picks and prospects, a future so bright, With every single shift, we’re ready to light.
(Chorus) This is a rebuild, said the Flames fanbase, From the red mile to the stands, we’re finding our place. This is a rebuild, time to ignite, From the bottom to the top, we’re ready to fight.
(Bridge) We’ve got the heart, we’ve got the drive, With a fresh new start, we’ll thrive and survive. New faces on the ice, with fire in their eyes, In Calgary we believe, watch us rise.
(Verse 3) Gotta trust the process, gotta play the long game, Step by step, we’re reclaiming our name. Every loss is a lesson, every win a sign, We’re skating toward the future, one shift at a time.
(Chorus) This is a rebuild, said the Flames fanbase, From the red mile to the stands, we’re finding our place. This is a rebuild, time to ignite, From the bottom to the top, we’re ready to fight.
(Outro) So here’s to the future, here’s to the youth, Here’s to the passion, and to the truth. We’re the Calgary Flames, and we’re burning anew, With every goal scored, we’re proving it’s true.
This is a rebuild, watch us grow, From the ashes of the past, see the Flames glow. This is a rebuild, time to ignite, With the fire of tomorrow, we’ll shine bright.

That isn't a good deal. 19 point Kaapo Kakko, who is only on a one year deal, a second rounder and Trouba (who is basically a two year cap dump). The Flames could potentially flip Trouba with retention at the 2026 TDL I suppose). But a 50 point Dman with team leadership qualities, signed long term at a reasonable price? I'd need more.

It's also about as reliable a source as any of the trade rumours we make up in this thread as fans, and is just a Fan Blog spitballing.
