Maybe we can package these two picks with our ‘24 1st rd pick for a top 6 forward on an expiring contract. Load up for the playoff run!

I liked the candour that Conroy showed in the intermission, and this really goes a long way to rationalizing it. Hard to argue with it. We have all been asking when Coronato would get recalled. Solovyov also showed that he is probably ready for lots of NHL time, and I bet Klapka is not long for a call-up as well. Conroy was very classy in calling Zadorov's handling of the situation classy - I wouldn't have been, especially considering that Zadorov's agent works for the team that just got him.

Do you wait until the trade deadline for an injury so you have the room to bring up Coronato, or is the difference between maybe a 2nd and a 3rd, not enough to warrant the delay? This does give the Flames a lot more flexibility.

It wouldn't surprise me if Zadorov gives another interview in Russian between now and the start of next season, airing-out all the dirty laundry about the Flames over the last couple of seasons. I know MacKinnon was a little offended. Probably won't be much, but I bet he speaks about any factions in the room last season between the players that supported Darryl, and those that maybe didn't (if there was a huge divide, anyway).

Most straight faced I've seen Conroy talking about anything. He was all business. Can't argue with his points, although I think better opportunities open up if he holds off a bit longer (as similar return without retention but not to your divisional rival).

But he's the GM and knows things we don't on what the market was, and maybe the outlook on Z trade where they could shed the salary with any other bidder would be unlikely.

For the GM it sounds like the most appealing part was the cap space and the asset they coveted the most. Pinder from barn burner called the trade “light” and you would have hoped for a second considering you paid a third to get him when he was a less established/valued commodity. One could argue that is a stretch given his UFA status but the acquired pick in 2026 doesn’t scream value.

I know the Flames value the opportunity bring up some more youth and the cap flexibility but you have to wonder if a better deal was to be made down the road. Perhaps their hands were forced given his presence in the locker room but I think there is legitimacy in some of the complaints on lack of value to a division rival.

Let’s hope there is a follow up plan to this move that can tie some of the pieces together and justify the timing/return.

I think the likable, vocal, honest person and the physical presence made a few of us overvalue him, me included. His pro-Ukraine stance won him some fans for sure, in a time when some Russian players stuck their heads in the sand. Initially I felt the return was awful . Fact is he doesn’t move the needle for the flames and obviously disrupted the room so had to go.
Next question- does he get booed or cheered sat night? A video tribute?
I think fan reaction will be mixed, more boos than cheers. Anytime you request a trade you’ll get booed by some for sure.

Should we really be asking if a player who publicly requested a trade and created a distraction in the room gets booed?

Actually it's a good question, because aside from that he was a very likable Flame and person.. Probably gets the Tkachuk treatment. Boo, ovation, back to boos.

If they play Zadorov with Tyler Myers I think we are going to hear a lot of Yakkety Sax in the background.

Agreed. I wish his dumbass agent just kept the trade request internal, and all would be better off.

Flames put up their most dominant 60 minute effort without him in the line up. Sure, it's 1 game. But we didn't miss Zadorov's presence tonight. The team we have got it done.

I think this speaks to how much he was overvalued, as some have said. I liked him, but not at 4-5-6 milly for 4-5-6 years like him as a 5/6 d man.

I think his play since asking for a trade was sub par, and full of mistakes. He didn't do him, or the Flames, any favors in bringing up his trade value.

As far as I'm concerned, we gained more than we gave for him, and we have cap space to call up kids, as well as potentially take on a larger contract for more prospects/picks, ala Monahan deal.

It looks to me like a quietly good snooker shot.

All Conroy did on this shot was sink a red ball, so no biggie one way or the other. The question is if he can sink a colour ball next for some serious points, and I'd say he gave himself a really good leave.

Three available retention slots, three top UFAs to sell, and wiggle room under the cap: This situation has serious potential.

Conroy really leaned on the cap space aspect and not having to retain salary.

We will have ti wait and see how much value they can derive from that later.

Yeah I was surprised to hear him on Flames Talk even talk about being a broker for trades to help gather more assets.
