And I'll say this about Rosario Dawson's Lughtsaber choreography, it's too slow for the character. Its too grounded and planted and far too steeped in Bushido . Her technique has missed to mark in terms of transitioning Ahsoka to live action. Perhaps that's to work around Dawson's limitation, I don't know. But all I've Sliver seen in ahsokas style has always been speed speed speed.
In fairness, she's a lot older now.
I don't disagree with you in the slightest - but as any middle age beer leaguer knows, Father Time comes for us all, and you can argue that's the case for Ahsoka here too, not just Rosario.

Now I'm not sayin' I'm just sayin'....that kid that played 'Young Ahsoka' in the flashback sequence was pretty good...

If you thought this season would have a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.

Liked that they made sure to make it clear that Thrawn is a true believer in the Empire. He believes it is the best choice for galactic security. He isn't doing it for personal glory or wealth.
Also liked he made sure the Night Troopers that they were sending to slow down the Jedi were volunteers and understood that the Grand Mothers would be zombifying their corpses. Looks like he is a commander that cares about the troops and sees them as people instead of fodder.
The farewell taunting to Ahsoka was *chef kiss.* Subtlety letting her know he knows the Anakin - Vader connection and taking jabs at her.
I just wish they could've shown off Thrawn's tactical genius better instead of him just trying to delay the Jedi and run out the clock. Would have loved it if a New Republic fleet was waiting for Thrawn in the original galaxy and he managed to take them out with a partially crippled star destroyer.
As for the overall season it probably would have benefited being 13 episodes long instead of 8. I am not that big a fan of the Mortis gods (I personally don't like the deifying of the Force) but 5 more episodes to explore what Baylan is looking for could have probably made the season more interesting.

The turrets not being able to hit them before they got to the gate on wolfback angered me a bit. Was ahsoka force deflecting? Because they hardly used a single evasive maneuver.. Then the same guns took out the fortress in mere seconds a short while later with flawless accuracy.
I just hate when they defy their own rules & logic when it's convenient for the story.
Also, so what Ezra hung out in the broom closest the whole time until he could jump in a shuttle to escape?
What sort of security does Ole' Thrawn have to allow a single shuttle to be taken without clearance.
The writing is so so so lazy
Doing things off screen is pretty lazy, especially if they want to convince us that Thrawn is a formidable foe and strategist.
So the night mothers' force radar didn't go off about Ezra being on board? He was using the force-fu so not like he was concealing his presence in that way.

I liked the taunting of Ashoka, and I would have loved to see Thrawn tear the heart out of a republic fleet to solidify his tactical genius, because honestly I didn't think we saw it here.
It would have been easy to further link Thrawn by having him study some Sabine artwork, honestly where did that go.
The accuracy of the Imperials has always been a running joke. there was a video where Stormtroopers got cateract surgery and suddenly they were all crack shots and they wiped out the rebellion in 10 minutes.
One other thing that was interesting. When we saw the Mortis God heads we saw the Father (Balance) and the Brother (Darkside) but no sister (Lightside). We did see the Owl that represents the Sister(Lightside) flying near Ashoka. IIRC when the brother murdered the Sister, she transferred the last of her spirit or force energy into Ahsoka to save her life. So maybe her big destiny is that she's going to become the Sister and bring the Cellestials into balance once Abeloth is released if it is indeed Abeloth that's coming.
As for Sin, I'm assuming she's going to beat the Raiders into submission and become their queen.

I did think the season started strong but became underwhelming. Maybe Rosario isn't athletic enough to pull off the fighting that was needed so it was tempered down. OR maybe they wanted a more grounded mature light saber form. But the shot of her blocking blasters looked underwhelming.
I go back to the brutal live action fight between Obi-Wan and Vader and they pulled it off nicely.
I guess I got kind of spoiled by Animated Ahsoka and the voice over work by AE. But a lot of the personality that we came to expect from Ahsoka, and the snarky edge just wasn't there. Rosario seemed flat in a lot of ways.

Ugh, what extra media do we need to read/watch/consume to know any of this?

Way more smugness than smirkiness. Yes there is a difference and yes I made up the word smirkiness.
She is my favourite Star Wars character of all time, and I was even getting annoyed with her attitude.
The true down fall of the show though is Sabine. Weak, weak casting, and either weak dialogue or just super weak acting or both. Super weak character choices as well.

I thought there was a time when Vader’s pre-Sith identity was not known by anybody.
It's not widely known until the book Bloodlines which takes place before TFA.
Thrawn knew Anakin (again in the new books) and deducted that Vader is Anakin based on evidence he saw.
I don't even think Ezra, Hera etc know the connection iirc. But Ahsoka confirmed it in Rebels.
So obviously Luke, Han, and Leia know (probably Chewie). Ahsoka knows. Thrawn knows. And so far I think that's it.
