It would have been another 5 years, and all prime years. So what if he walks then, let some other team take on the Hubby type contract.

(Re: why he skated off after scoring) He talked about how important rest and recovery is now for being ready for Game 2, and how he was looking forward to getting on the bus back to the hotel for some food and rest.
He got the game puck and dedicated it to the training staff after the game too. This guy's all in.

I just kind of took it as a "Let's get out of here" energy, as though he just wanted to get rest and be ready for game two.

You guys are most likely right, I just saw the look on Ekblad's face when he tried to celebrate with him and wondered what was going through Ekblad's mind.

Trade could not have gone better for Chucky.
I’m firmly on the Chucky and Sam Stanley Cup bandwagon.

Johnny too tbh.

Yikes. I can’t image what a disaster it would have been to give him the C at that time. He was an immature and inconsistent player who constantly let himself get rattled and make mistakes that cost his team.
Maybe, just maybe, the way things played out are a big reason why he’s the player he is now. No need to play revisionist history.

To be fair to Markstrom, last year he did manage a complete 180 for the playoffs.

I'm with you, absolutely terrible we lost a generational talent, flames should have offered enough money that he couldn't turn it down, especially when losing johnny, Brad panicked imo and set the organization back years if not decades.

could say the same about chucky, no?
While I agree he isn't a typical highly skilled star but he's proving he's an asset in this playoff run, he's showing us that he wasn't given a fair shot in Calgary.
It's not over yet but he just might win the cup!

Bob has made an enormous difference for the Panthers since he came in, but if they make it out of this round Tkachuk is likely in the top two for points in the playoffs, and he has scored some big ones. If they make it to the cup final, he's in with a very solid shot at the Conn Smythe.

And he's clearly playing injured right now, too.

His parents were also building a home in that area and he wanted to be near them.
