To the extent he may have been someone the indigenous community would look up to, or perhaps survivors of abuse, he’s long gone.

Sadly I know people who would read that and now think Gondek is going to make pedophilia legal.
They have a pre-existing hatred for her (for being a non right wing politician) and so anything anyone says disparaging about her, they will believe.

Does he really think kids are more likely to be groomed by a stranger they’ll likely never see again? I don’t think a one-off story time event is going is how that happens.

Oh the conspiracy crowd.. they fight so hard to "prove it" to you, that for a fleeting moment you question whether they're on to something.
And then they come out with tweets like this, and you snap back into reality.
Not that Theo ever had me fooled. But other fairly well educated and well meaning people close to me.
To think those american stations brought him on as an "informed source" on the convoy story during that event .. this is why we need to take the news (especially south of the border) with a heavy grain of salt as often as possible

They didn't bring him on as an informed source. They're mostly grifters and Theo helps push the grift.

i did a quick poll on people who dont argue politics on the internet. They all made an effort to be understanding, but all came to the conclusion that doing drag shows for kids is both weird and gross, got a lot of confused and blank stares on this one.

from your words, you must have done a quick poll of your echo chamber.
Nothing wrong with events to teach kids tolerance and understanding of different people in the community.

Are these the parental supervised events in which someone dressed as a woman reads a book to a child. That is what we are arguing about, right?

We're never going to evolve and break tired and antiquated social conventions if we can't even handle a man wearing makeup read story books to children in a safe environment.
I mean, clowns also wear makeup, obtuse fashion, and have flamboyant delivery and they entertained kids for decades. Is it the femininity that bothers people?
Because if it is, then we have a problem with feminism, not drag queens, which would actually make a lot of sense since history is rife with violence, hate and prejudice against women.

How did you define what a “drag show for kids” was and is that in any way a reflection of what the event at the library were?
Are Monty Python and Kids in the Hall sketches also “weird and gross” when the cast are dressed in drag?

At this point, does Fleury even get invited to what will likely be an alumni game later this year before the outdoor game?

why is it weird to have drag performers read to kids?
I think it's a great way to humanize the community, and to teach kids tolerance and understanding of people who live life a bit differently.
Family Junior shows "The fabulous show with fay and fluffy" and my daughter loves it.
It's fun, and she also learns life lessons, not just about gay people or drag performers, but it helps teach how to deal with different feelings (such as disappointment) and understanding and accepting people of different cultural backgrounds, too.
I'd love for you to explain to me how it's something weird. Kids are being educated on becoming better people and sometimes heck, they're just getting more story time. nothing weird about that.
It's more weird and maddening) that people are demonizing trans and drag people to the point where they're normalizing them being being threatened, beaten and killed. The hate people are teaching their kids towards a community is more "weird" than a fricking storytime with a guy in a dress.

the King's Singers, an a cappella vocal group that has been around for 55 years, just had one of their concerts in Florida cancelled due to the "lifestyle" choices of some of their members. between that and the protests at drag shows now in freaking urban, progressive, PoC mayor electing Calgary, you better believe that the Fleurys out there are only getting more emboldened by the day. it's time to stand up and stop tolerating this crap if you don't want to wake up one day in Gilead.

I find it both hilarious and sad the right constantly rails against cancel culture and wokeness but are whole-heartedly capable of canceling culture and pushing their own woke agenda of intolerance, hate, and pseudo-religious fascism.
