Well, to be fair, one of the games went to overtime. Flames secure 3 out of 4 possible "points", Canucks 2 out of 4... of course Vancouver didn't ice Pettersson, Pearson, Ferland, Sutter, Edler, Hughes or Myers in either game, while the Flames played more or less everyone, but that's their dumb fault. Flames win.

The vets lost both games. Almost like it's preseason and they're warming up instead of giving it 110% to make the team. Talbot has been good and did bad on a TERRIBLE Oilers team, I'm sure he will be fine.

I dunno, there were stretches in the Flames home game, namely late and to start OT where you probably couldn't play any better without being rewarded.
And even by the accounts of the Canucks pbp, the Flames dominated in Victoria (at least for parts).
Unfortunate to win just one. But yeah, the greybeards are very much warming up still. Except Gio, that man is going any day of the year that you put him on a sheet of ice.

Gio really is something to behold. It was just a pre-season game, but he certainly seemed to be out there on a mission.
However this season goes, I’m all in for Tree and the organization to push the damn chips into the middle and go for it entirely because of just how good Gio is. I believe Gio can drive a team to the Cup.

I dunno about Rieder. I was expecting more. He had flashes where he used his speed but otherwise I was left wanting a lot more. I get that vets ramp up their games as the preseason goes on, but he's on a PTO. He has to bring his best game every night. He had two nice chances, including a breakaway set up by Czarnik, and he couldn't score. I'll reserve judgement until I see him again, but he's in tough to earn a contract.

Agreed, we need to see some production. However it might be a case of one of the PTO forwards is getting a spot to be that 13th F that management doesn't mind eating popcorn.
So at this point, Rieder is in the lead over Rinaldo and DSP.
