If Flames do end up getting their asses kicked (scoreboard wise) tonight, at least their next game is against a divisional rival to rebound against.

The problem is the offence, or lack thereof. It has been for a while, but it's been masked by the depth scoring lately.

Oh I agree with you. Flames need to get the offence going especially the first line.

That wasn't your initial point. You questioned starting Smith against the Leafs because they are great or something.

So far not rewarding Treliving for holding off at the deadline.

I think they’ve been playing fine offensively, out-chancing and outshooting the Leafs. Just no luck. Defence has been atrocious.

This is the truth of it. Both of our goalies just aren’t very good. It’s a huge weakness. The most annoying part of it is that this was entirely predictable. We knew Smith was bad and that Rittich faltered last season.
Hopefully we can outscore our poor goaltending in the playoffs.

I can really only remember one really great save that Andersen (post to post cover from behind the net) has had to make
The biggest difference has been the skaters, in a big way.
Goal #2 is a great example of it, and what do you want Rittich to do in #4 exactly?

What a frustrating game.
Flames have played ok, zero to show for it. Leafs have scored on every chance they got and I am not blaming Rittich.
Andersson easily the best player on the ice.
Tkachuk assisted on the Hyman goal, got rocked with an elbow and looks completely ineffective, even at being a pest.

Such a weird game. Flames aren't even playing that badly and they've generated multiple grade A chances. They're just snakebitten offensively right now. Someone needs to score a freakin' goal already.

We can't even get a game management penalty.

Whiffed on what, now 5 plays where they worked to get the puck and setup to get a guy open in a good spot on the slot or in the scoring zone?
Breakaway by Czar and Lindholms shot that went through Andersson. Terrible luck, Flames have worked harder and had more legit possesion but this could be a 4 4 game without the Flames playing a stiich better.

No. Kylington has looked shaky in his place tonight.

This is why you go out and bolster your second line. Is Frolik going to make some kind of difference here offensively? HELL no. I'll put money on it.
Would someone like Stone/Nyquist/Zucc? Way better chance than 67 at least.

As I said I would of started Smith today, I don't have a hate on any goalie. Rittch starts on the road.
