Wow did Tavares get around the net quick for that goal. Impressive.

Denis Potvin just referenced the 70's Canadiens, 80's Islanders, and 80's Oilers in the vein of "you have to learn how to lose before you learn how to be a winner". God I hope he's right, because otherwise that's a massive load of ####e to spew.
I like this young Panthers team. I think they're going to be good for a while. But I don't equate them to the greatest teams the game has ever seen. Sheesh.

53-56 depending on how many of the other Division winners (Washington, Dallas, and Anaheim) make the third round.
If none of them do, the pick will be 53rd. For every one of them who goes to the Conference Finals, the pick moves down one.
Also, if Arizona doesn't sign Conner Bleackley before June 1, they'll receive the 53rd pick in the draft as compensation and the Florida pick will move back one.

Have to agree with this. They're going to get torched by the speed of that team.

Fun fact for the night: Huberdeau leads the league in SOG for the playoffs. Has just 1 goal to show for it.
Just shows the luck of the Panthers this playoff series.

I feel a little for Hudler, might struggle to find a contract next year. Could be had for cheap.

Hudler another glencross? I think we would take him back at pretty cheap though.

I think Hudler finds a job next year. He was pretty good down the stretch of the regular season for the Panthers. 11 points in 19 games. This isn't a Glencross/Jones scenario here.

I don't see it. He has a lot more left to give than Glencross did IMO. There will be someone willing to pay him. I'd say 4x4.

Gudbranson looks pretty crushed in the post-game interview.

Still, can you imagine what he'd have got if last year was his contract year instead?

Good management by the Flames to play the patient game. He is a good player, but paying older guys for career years past is bad news for sure.

Trocheck near tears in his postgame. He says they really believed they could have gone all the way.
Gotta be disappointing for this group.

So I'd be down for a return of hudler on a reasonable contract...

Part of me feels bad for Luongo because he seems like a decent guy and has had numerous crushing defeats.
But I have always had a soft spot for the Islanders so I am happy they won this series.
Islanders took 2 of 3 for the season series against Tampa, I don't think it will be a cake walk like some here are predicting.

Flames could certainly use him short term, but I'd be worried about how much term he'll want.

Even Jagr seems really down in his post-game interview.
Talking about "if he comes back" he'll have to prepare differently, learn from this, and practice harder. Says he really wants to come back.
What a frigging trooper.

I don't think teams will be queuing up round the block, not after how his season went following the trade. He went from a top 6 guy with us to being a barely used 3rd liner with the Panthers.
After what we saw in the play offs, why would anyone be desperate to give him a hefty contract in both term and AAV? I think he'll be like Glencross in that he thinks he'll cash in but might ultimately find himself short on offers. If I were the Flames, I'd be looking to bring him back, but it'll be tricky unless we can move Wideman and/or Raymond.

Not to pee on the grave here but can we determine where the Flames pick with Florida's second from the Hudler trade?
