I don't think they are, aren't the two guys from Calgary? Harnryan Singh and ?

13 goals in 64 career AHL games does not a top six forward make.
Ferland is the perfect third line, energy guy though.

Great road win. We needed solid goaltending and got it, Hiller deserves credit, he had a huge game and huge early in the third when the Canucks were pushing.
I was hard on Ferland for dropping the gloves in the first but man he had an amazing game after that, really impressive.
I expect a little more from the top line next game, Hudler to lead the way.
It's been a while since we've won a series opener I believe? Great start, I really wanted this game so we have that road split under our belts and then 2nd game is gravy if we can take it.
Still gonna be a tough series, but that's the start we needed.

Stayed out to watch the game last night - thankfully a slow morning at work today!
Bennett looked amazing. Noticed him right away. Not as visible in 2nd period, but I think part of that was the long change meaning Hartley couldn't set his matchups as well.
Colborne played the best game I have seen from him in a long time. I wasn't sold on that line on paper - I wanted a faster guy like Jooris there - but Colborne fit perfectly with Bennett and Backlund.
The Stajan line was also great. Everyone is talking about Ferland, and for good reason too - he was a monster out there - but Stajan and Jones played well, letting Ferland impose himself on the Canucks.
The Canucks seemed reluctant to engage physically, if that doesn't change for game 2, this could be a short series.
Monahan and Hudler were well checked by the Canucks, Gaudreau would occassionaly break free with some magic, but that top line was stifled. With how well the Backlund and Stajan lines played though, that could force Desjardins to change his matchups, which might give the Monahan line a chance to spark.
The longer the game went on, the more the Flames surged - it was "rope a dope" hockey.
I wonder if Vrbata gets reunited with the Sedins, to try to get some scoring from that line. They did well to shut down Monahan, but neutralized their own effectiveness in doing so.

I thought after a timid start to the first period where the play was fairly even we took over teh game in the second when the refs put away the whistles when we got mugged.
Canucks knew the Flames are a 3rd period team and came out firing shots from the red line to pump up the corsi numbers. We slowly but surely took over the game, and created a lot of chances and should have won that thing easily.
What a shift by big Joe, you know hes amped up to win. That was a mans shift by him to create that winning goal. Shift of the playoffs so far for sure.
What can you say about the franchise Samuel Bennett, he was dominating the sedins and was everything we knew he would be.
I thought Ferland was awesome, he was a wrecking ball.
If we can come out with that same 2nd period in the 1st and cash in on our chances this is coming back 2-0 to Calgary. Regardless if we play our game the Canucks are not in our league.
We are up 2 points to 0 right now, and the focus turns to getting the next 2 points which will be huge.

CBC doesn't seem to make their postgame interviews available online, but Bennett says the same thing at the end of his scrum:

With super-fitness, the Flames have the advantage in any close games and O/T.
Canucks have to score early and often to win.

If we score first in Game 2 I think the Canucks will get really nervous quickly. With their recent failures in the playoffs (1-11) early adversity at home could be a kiss of death.

I love the video of Hulder handing out the fire helmet after the game. Jones looked totally pumped to get it.

Not sure what how others are viewing Backlund, but he looks lost with the puck. Seems like whenever he has the puck, he'll pass it off to nowhere or give it to an opposition member. That 2-on-1 breakaway where he should've shot the puck, he tried passing it off when the guy on the right is covered. What up widdat? Just shoot the dang frickin' puck!

I hope that "huge 2 points" becomes a running gag during this playoff run.

If what I read on Twitter is any indication, Hartley made a two points comment as well, so it seems to be a team thing.
Which would be hilarious. Treat the regular season like it's the playoffs, then treat the playoffs like it's the regular season. That would be the most Hartley thing ever!

I'm just speculating, but Monahan looks very pale (sitting next to Stajan who is pretty fair skinned) and a little sick.
I'm guessing he's going to feel a lot better in a few days. He might have lingering shoulder issues too

I think I mentioned on twitter but props to Hartley for the way he handled Ferland after that dumb penalty. Wouldn't have been unusual for a coach to plaster his ass to the bench. Talked to him, calmed him down and got him back out there. Ferland rewarded him for with a great game. Fantastic coaching.

Such a typical Flames victory haha. It was actually quite predictable. I called both goals in the third period. Just before the first goal, I told my gf "Don't worry. They're behind in the third period, which means they're just about to score. She turns around and says "OK. I believe you". Within 30 seconds, they score!
Then as the period wore on, she asks if this is going to OT. I say "Don't worry. They always score clutch goals at the end of the third period."
Normally I would call myself a clairvoyant, but this was utterly predictable, and I loved every second of it!

Anyone else listening to the TEAM 1040 right now?
According to the talking heads in Vancouver, the Flames have no answer for the Sedins. All they do is have to finish—it's as simple as that.
