I really don't like the Hawks, but it looks like this series is all but over. Blues have choked this thing away big time, and I don't like their chances in game 6. It's really too bad. I'm sick to death of Chicago and with any luck they'll get destroyed in the 2nd round.

Four of five have gone to OT and the winning goals have been on breaks. Hardly a major choke job. It's just two great teams that are really evenly matched.
Hitchcock just said, "Instead of it going in their net, it goes in our net." Series could still go either way.
Game 1 - Steen scores winner in OT
Game 2 - Jackman scores game winner
Game 3 - St. Louis were the better team, Quick with a shutout
Game 4 - LA wins 4-3
This series against Chicago:
Game 1 - Steen scores winner in OT
Game 2 - Jackman scores winner in OT
Game 3 - St. Louis were the better team, Crawford with a shutout
Game 4 - Chicago wins 4-3
Spooooooky!
LA win 3-2 in OT.
Blackhawks win 3-2 in OT.
Woah.

St.Louis really lack a dynamic game breaker up front. Lots of good players, but without Backes they really do lack the man up front. You want to talk about wasted oppurtunities the Blues have been a top 5 team in the league for three straight years and have a second round 4 game sweep loss to show for it.

Yeah, except that San Jose is quite good at winning in round 1. I think in the last 10 playoffs they've been to the second round more than anyone, and to th Conference finals twice. St.Louis has 0 wins after the first round to show for their 3 year run.

Heard an interesting take on Hockey Central yesterday.
What one of the guys was saying the problem with St.Louis is, is that it's always a mistake to go after players that know how to lose.
Getting good players that know how to win is much better than getting great players that know how to lose, and it kind of makes sense. You look at the players they acquired for the "run" the past couple seasons, and you've got Bouwmeester, Miller, Paajarvi, Ott, Redden, Roy, Leopold, all guys that have been on some pretty miserable teams lately. Instead of acquiring bit pieces to fill out your roster that come from playoff teams, they source players from the depths of the league.
Who knows, maybe there is nothing to that theory at all, but it seems like an easy point to make to me.

Roy 4M 2 assists in his last 7 playoff games. Jay Bouwmeester 27M for the next 5 years.... 1 assist in his 11 playoff games.
Those are the big ticket guys, along with Miller they added to get over the hump.
