I think they will leave Lady Stoneheart until next season. There is too much #### to cram into the last 3 episodes. I think they will leave season three with people thinking Rob, Catelyn and Arya are all dead.

The moment he said "I am Daario Naharis" I thought "oh god, here we go."

preview for next episode, pretty much confirms the Red Wedding at the end when you see Edmure and the Frey girls

So there is a link in the TV thread that talks about the series only going 7 seasons. How does that make sense with book 3 being split into 2 seasons? Do they cram books 4/5 into one season and cut out all the descriptions of people eating and Dany sitting doing nothing? Well, doing Daario.

There is no way book six will be ready to meet this schedule, much less book 7. With the success of the series I figured they would go at least 9 seasons.

I could see books 4 & 5 being made into one season (which would be season 5 right?).

The real problem is GRRM finishing the series, most likely that doesn't happen in time and instead he gives the HBO folks the coles notes version of what is going to happen, and in a cruel twist of fate us book readers will have to stay out of the tv thread lest the upcoming books get spoiled for us (I saw a vision of this in the flames).

They could leave the TV series on a bit of a cliffhanger, then do a movie/mini-series after the books are finished

Well the article did say they "hope" it will be 7 seasons; nothing is set in stone.

The fact that it's lining up that Aria is getting delivered to the wedding as well, makes me suspicious. A happy reunion for the Starks? Haha, Martin isn't that nice to that family.

It really sucks that there is no episode this week. I can't wait to see the response.

I was thinking today - I wonder if they tried to push the schedule at all to get the RW in *before* the Memorial Day break, or to get the whole season in without the break altogether. Can you imagine if there was a week in between RW and the season finale?

I've enjoyed Daradon's predictions and thoughts but I'm a bit upset he figured it out. I suppose kidnapping is a bit different than the slaughter that takes place but I would have loved to see his reaction with a complete surprise.

As for the actual wedding, I realize why the show has had to cut back on a lot of characters, but it sucks that the Red Wedding wont get the full effect of the other characters involved like the Smalljon fighting with a leg of lamb, the Mormont women who just wanted to dance, etc.

And just in general I feel like the show didn't give exactly a favourable view of Robb. The most obvious was the difference between why he married. In the books he was vulnerable after being injured and finding out his brothers had died, he caved in, and married to save Jeyne's honour (and in contrast to his father who's only blackmark was having a ####### apparently). In the show he was doing Talisa before anything happened and married because "#### the Freys what are they going to do about it anyways?. But the dealings with his lords in the show have all been pretty negative. Everyone of importance would have betrayed him practically, his uncle didn't listen, Karstark killed the children, Theon captured Winterfell, Roose and Walder killed him and his mom released the Kingslayer. Of course those all happen in the books, but there was no Umbers, Glovers, Manderlys or Mormonts shown to really have stayed loyal to him.

Agreed, and while I suspect the portrayal of the RW will be shocking, for these reasons not near as shocking as in the books. There's a line iirc about his bannermen dying around him - they weren't pivotal characters but they were characters that just don't exist in the show for obvious reasons - Smalljon and Dacey, Manderly and Robin Flint...

Another key scene in the books was when Catelyn went to find Robb and he was in the godswood with the northern lords - Umber, Blackwood, etc - these types of scenes helped establish Robb and establish the North, and the show missed it. I understand why they did it, but as you said, no wonder Robb isn't popular.

I still don't get the Talisa thing either.

^^ Yeah, I saw someone predicted the RW in the Game of Thrones thread. Definitely easier to foresee it on the show than in the book. Bummer.

Gah, I'm having a hard time remembering which of the two I'm reading, it seems. Sorry about that.

FWIW, I agree with you. My wife and I have only gotten up to end of the second season, and I've read the books but she hasn't. So I'm watching the show and as it gets further on, find myself saying "Too bad they didn't put 'so and so' in." That will take some steam out of the RW, too, as you pointed out.

The Great Jon was my favourite Northerner after Ned was killed.. I hope they show him justice at the Red Wedding and how important it was to get him subdued..

I can't wait till Whoresbane breaks him out of the Twins and they wreak vengeance upon the Boltons and Freys.

It's not like the events at the wedding were totally unexpected in the book. A fair amount of time had been built up to foreshadowing it. When I was reading the book I remembered thinking something would go down at the wedding.

In my GoT re-read I just finished the Catelyn chapter in the Eyrie where Tyrion's fate was decided by trial by combat. Man, Lysa is such a terrible person -- all of her comments ring especially bad knowing she was the one who poisoned Jon Arryn in the first place.

Of course, Catelyn's reminiscing during the battle got me thinking about how so much conflict and suffering has unrequited love at its heart. Lysa is completely used by Littlefinger because he knows she's completely smitten with him. Littlefinger is a power hungry manipulative bitter POS because of how Brandon Stark beat him down with Catelyn being relatively indifferent compared to how invested he was in winning her favor. And then, of course, there's the entirety of Robert's Rebellion and how out of touch he may have been with regards to Lyanna Stark and her feelings for him.

It's a lot of death and mayhem because of people who just couldn't get over their baggage or face the truth.

Do we see Jaime and Brienne any more this season?

They pretty much just travel and don't do anything until they arrive in King's Landing after the Purple wedding.
