Like any Chinese person would choose Mackenzie as a first name. Should have just named him Preston.

How to make it look like you are doing something yet...but at least they got the big gov't apparatus in

The UCP government’s plan to have residents apply to the province to get six $100 affordability payments in the new year is risky, says the Opposition NDP.
As part of a $2.8-billion inflation relief package over three years first announced by Premier Danielle Smith in late November, the government has promised the relief payments to seniors 65 and up and families with children under 18 years of age with household incomes below $180,000 per year will be sent out as early as January.
Affordability Minister Matt Jones said in early December seniors and vulnerable Albertans already on support programs will get the relief payments automatically, but those not on the programs will have to apply through an online government portal.
NDP Opposition finance critic Shannon Phillips has written to Finance Minister Travis Toews urging the government to deliver the payments through the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) instead of making Albertans apply.

Again, the NDP proves they are the party that actually gives a #### about people's lives.

Smith is no friend of mine. In fact I feel Smith fears the NDP which is why she has launched those attack ads. It's probably the only way the United Corrupt Party feels they can win.

Will there be a field to enter your UCP membership number? So you can get the money even if you're not eligible and not worry about any scrutiny.

Yeah, I think they can probably slap pause on that in an emergency.

That seems like a political choice then one driven by resource constraints. I am assuming times of birth are still being recorded but the entire effort of recording the the first New Years baby is 106 phone calls lasting 1 minute each.

“ Fagerheim also said he is pleased with the stances that Prairie premiers Danielle Smith and Scott Moe have taken in forcefully asserting provincial jurisdiction over energy and natural resource development. He said he disagrees with critics of Smith’s controversial Sovereignty Act who have argued the legislation will create political uncertainty that could be damaging for business investment.”

Maybe announcing the new year's baby is just really stupid to begin with. Does anyone actually really care who it is, where it was born and it's birth stats?

And....this shocker as well....a fervent supporter of Kenney, the UCP, Smith, etc.
Big liberal media not telling the truth about transparency!!!!
Yoho will be so disappointed in this hidden trickery.

Fagerheim and Whitecap seem to be doing just fine prior to the Sovereignty Act. That article said nothing of substance as to what that Act is supposed to fix.

Reminder to get your political donations in before the end of the year if you have anything to spare at all.
https://www.elections.ab.ca/finance/contributions/
Donating $200 will cost you $50
Donating $500 will cost you $200
Donating $1100 will cost you $500
Since this is [hopefully] an election year, I'll be donating another few hundred in the first week of January, even though it'll be well over a year until I realize any tax credit.
