Not much pressure for ecil there with a 9-2 lead, but still awesome to see him come in and K2 in a quick 1-2-3 9th. Him returning to last seasons form would be huge for this team down the stretch.
Martin may not be hitting much but he is worth every penny of his contract, love watching him work a game. Homers in back to back games is a huge bonus. Anyone see him as a future manager of the Jays? He'll manage somewhere for sure.

Cecil looked great today. He might be the most Jekyll-Hyde pitcher that the Jays have. When he is good, he is very good, but watch out for the off days.

It's crazy yeap.
He had an ERA of 5.96 last season on June 24th after coming into a game against Baltimore and giving up 4 earned runs. He then went 37 straight appearances without giving up an earned run and finished the season with a 2.48 ERA.
In those 37 appearnces, he had 44 SO"s against only 4 walks and 17 hits. Just dominant.
Hopefully we get to see more of that second guy the rest of the year.

Went to my first Jays game on Wednesday and my second on Friday. What a great experience! Even though they lost on Friday it was still amazing. I've wanted to go to a Jays game for years but finally got too this year! Getting to watch Edwin hit his 300th home run on Friday was incredible!

Was at the games yesterday and today. That 3 run shot by Schoop to take the lead stunned the crowd. Can't believe Baltimore won that.
AT&T park is a great stadium! Did one game behind home plate and one in row 2 behind the right field fence. Will probably go tomorrow as well as resell for a Monday night is pretty cheap.
I went to my first Blue Jays game on August 12, 2012. Not only was it one of the first games of Adeiny Hechavarria's career (what a great name), this happened:
Off Jeter no less. Heck of a game.

There's a little dive bar down by AT&T, but the name escapes me. Dirt cheap, and a great time with some hardcore local fans. It's up third street, a couple blocks up from the stadium. If you have time you should sniff it out. This place looks pretty dingy from the outside, should be easy to find if it still exists.

Brad Lincoln.... I had wiped him from memory until watching that video.

They should bring Encarnacion back. He's 33 and a DH with no significant injury history. He has another 9 or 10 years in him.
Agreed, bring him back over Bautista so long as they can get him for less than 4 years. Bautista can come back if he takes his QO but at this point i'm not so sure I'd be giving Bautista a multi year deal at the type of dollars he is going to be asking for. I think Bautista is closer to being the full time DH then it looked at the start of this season and as the full time DH EE>> Bautista, IMO.

Even if you have to give EE 5 years...most historic data and indicators seems to suggest that he should still be a very productive hitter for the next three seasons. So really it would be the final two years that carry the biggest risk. In a perfect world, you can sign him for 3. Hard to predict exactly what the market will bear here, but I'd rather pay EE premium dollars as a DH for 5 years, than give the same annual salary to Bautista for 3. EE has also been the far more consistent producer over the previous 5 years, there really isn't that much variation in his numbers. Only down year being when he only played 128 games, and his production that year was in line with all other seasons if you add 10% for the missed time.
As much as it sucks for Bautista....the team looks to have played their cards right from the business aspect. Now the onus is on Bautista, to get healthy, help the team make the playoffs and kill it in the playoffs if he wants the security of a longer term contract.

Bautista's days in the outfield are done, and Edwin is the better DH/1B option. Jays need to ensure they sign Edwin and let Bautista walk (unless he's willing to sign a one year deal given what transpired this year).
That said, in letting Bautista walk, the Jays have to invest in an adequate RF with the money they don't spend on Bautista. In no way, shape, or form is Upton an every day major leaguer anymore and not an adequate replacement for Bautista. Unfortunately, I think he was acquired with that in mind.
