If it's all going together easy and binds up when you tighten the screw... I don't know, maybe you're just massively over-tightening it? It would explain the plastic cracking apart...
The tightness of the screw should have no bearing on how easy or difficult it is to turn the knob; as DoubleF wrote, the screw is just there to keep the knob from falling off. If you're tightening the screw to the point the knob movement binds up there's something wrong...

Attaching an additional piece of pipe that is sliced at an angle on the end might be an easy way to do it IMO. That's what I'd do. I don't think you'd need to use the chemicals to bond the PVC together.
Attaching something to the outside of the pipe seems like a PITA.

So it moves freely and together but when I go to turn it to the off position it feels like it sticks and gets caught and does not shut off as clean as it turns on, kind of feels like it grinds on the stem and I feel like that is what is breaking the plastic piece. You can see on the inside of the plastic that goes into the stem there is shavings a bit.
I aligned it perfect as well. Strange.

Well, we tried. But I think it's probably time you burn the house down and start over.

Ya, what DoubleK said would probably be my first move. You could put something plastic or metal on the house, depending on aesthetic.

I would get a 45 degree elbow and point it so the exhaust is midway between the wall and the intake pipe.

Interesting...
On my furnace the exhaust is the one on the right. The left is the combustion air intake. Oriented down so no water can get in and freeze.
Its typical 2 inch PVC pipe...Go get a 45 and point it away from your house.

Wouldn't you need the extra step of putting in a piece of straight pipe to connect the elbow to the elbow?
That's why I suggested a piece of straight pipe slicing it at a 45 degree angle without gluing or bonding it. That way, he can still turn the piece slightly to have the air escape in correct directions, and if somehow it's against code (ie: pointing slightly too close to the intake), you could just turn or saw off the piece that was DIY installed.

It's possible to buy elbows like this that just insert as well(flared on one end only):

Has anyone seen any lights like this available locally?
https://www.wayfair.ca/lighting/pdp/...-tyih1067.html
I think these would be great in my tv room where the ring light could be used to have a bit of light dispersed in the room without being overly bright or distracting. I'd like to see and buy it in person as opposed to ordering through Wayfair.

Does it have to be a retrofit? I have that exact style.of light, but it's a slimline one piece, not a retrofit.
Just bought them at Home Depot

Doesn't necessarily need to be a retrofit light but I already cans in the ceiling so that is the easiest.

Yeah, it's probably too much work, just to get the light that you want. If they're retrofit cans you could probably just pop them out. But if they're screwed to tbe joists or trusses then it's way more of a hassle then just laying for those wayfair lights.

What does it cost to replace a bathtub? Outside of the cost of the tub I mean... basically I need the tub removed, then I need to fix something going on underneath there that's causing overflow from the tub to leak through the floor to the ceiling below, then reinstall and re-seal the tub.
