Davies is good enough to play anywhere for Real Madrid. David, on the other hand, is a Championship level striker at best. No way Real Madrid go for him.

He’d be the first American born player to play for Real Madrid. Sadly for him, Real
Madrid aren’t in the business of signing guys who play in leagues filled with postmen and farmers.

Yeah, a championship level striker that is probably going to Man U.

MegaErtz has some notoriously bad takes, but I actually kind of agree with this one. David is good, but I don't think he's Real Madrid caliber. But I'd love to see it!!

The Athletic had some sound reasoning behind their article. Will it happen? I think Real will target a sexier name, but then again, they just spent 100MM on Bellingham this morning. So maybe they grab a younger guy who they feel can grow with them.
Not exactly a universal opinion, but some people rank David quite high - https://thetrivelaeffect.com/ranking...te-performers/

Wonder if they're planning to play a formation or strategy that doesn't make Atiba run the length of MF and gas quickly? That, or they just want a stable veteran presence to jump in as a sub.

This is about as strong a squad as you can get with the players who are healthy. Only real surprise for me is Osorio's inclusion; I thought he was injured. Cornelius was injured on the weekend as well so good to see him in, but maybe he'll end up being replaced in the end.
I would guess Atiba is going to get through Nations League and Gold Cup and retire. Would be great to see him go out with a trophy win.
I imagine there will be some squad rotation for Gold Cup with some new faces. With a few big transfers this offseason I imagine some of the bigger names will be sitting that tournament out.

So awesome to see some Calgary talent in that lineup, and pretty cool to say that I've played against both of them.
Loturi is a baller. Can't wait to see him hopefully get some minutes. It was evident the first time I saw him play that he was going places. He had the ability to dictate the flow of games from a very young age. Zator I didn't think would go this far, so kudos to him! You love to see it.
Hopefully we can get some hardware!

To think that were it not for CPL and Cavalry, neither Zator nor Loturi are on this squad.

As far as players moving on from CPL to bigger and better things go, Cavalry is head and shoulders above the rest. Waterman is probably first in line if any CBs get injured, and the only reason Farsi isn't there is because he is mulling his international future between Canada and Algeria. Pepple's Luton Town just got promoted to the premier league (though he has not made the first team... yet).

I was chatting with Tommy the other day about this, after Luton got promoted, in regards to Pepple. I told him "this is why CPL is important, as 10 years ago, Pepple would have been playing for SAIT".

It's a shame there doesn't seem to be any young players on Cavalry's roster this year that are worth getting excited over to the same degree. Ntignee seems to be the only one Tommy trusts to get any meaningful minutes, and there doesn't seem to be anyone on either Foothills or the U-21 team that are standing out as being worthy of making the jump up.

I think to be fair, the initial bumper crop of talent allowed the CPL progression to let the cream rise to the top. Now, with that complete, it's about long-term development for upcoming players. We may continue to get bright spots to bring along.
Foothills players with higher potential just needed the right structure to burst through the dam (the CPL). Now the water is in balance - at least for now - so there's no immediate surprises.

There are a few boys a couple years away that I think could make a splash.
Foothills put a team together mixed between their U-17 and U16s for a friendly vs the League One side, and they drew 1-1. There were three red cards in this "friendly".
(The L1 team was missing a few players, but it's surprising to see...especially considering the L1 would be the best team of the Cavs U20s and U21s).

Why still Cavallini? Atiba deserves to go out on his terms and this tourney may be the swan song, but why waste a development spot on a plug in Cavallini who's proven to be a pretty much useless player on the pitch.
2 goals in 12 appearances (played in 2/3 of the games) on a LeagueMx side that's in 15th place right now? Surely there's a better option in advance of 2026 or 2030.
