Extend election "day" to "week" officially so as to allow the necessary time for counting. It's no longer something that can be done thoroughly in a night or even a day. Start Tuesday and make the call on the Friday.

The head of Trump's legal team has also tested positive.

David Bossie, who was recently tasked to head President Trump's re-election legal challenges, tested positive for Covid-19 on Sunday, two sources familiar with the matter confirmed to NBC News.
“Because he can’t be at the campaign headquarters and he can’t be in the Oval Office [due to his diagnosis] Dave’s no longer a part of the decision-making process,” one of the sources said.
Bossie, who heads the conservative advocacy group Citizens United, is apparently at home and feeling OK, the source said, noting that it's particularly problematic that Bossie is now “sidelined” from the legal push he was supposed to lead.
Bossie was most recently seen at a Trump campaign press conference in Phoenix, Arizona, on Thursday.

Election day is a holiday in the vast majority of countries that have elections, even the undemocratic ones. Sunday is by far the most common day, but Saturdays aren't rare.
Really every other day is used somewhere except Monday. Can't have an election on a Monday for some reason.

throwing another Twitter tantrum today, again claiming wins in all of those contested states. So deluded and pathetic.

One of the benefits in terms of election reform from this whole debacle of a year is the sheer volume of mail in voting. By 2024, literally every state should have an apparatus like Florida's to handle mail-in ballots, and should be counting those votes ahead of time in the same manner. Now that so many people have voted by mail once, it's probably how they'll vote from now on. It's just more convenient than standing in line.
The thing is, it's not like mail-in voting has traditionally been so heavily in favour of democrats. In a lot of states, the GOP is really good at getting their vote in that way, particularly from the elderly. They should have built on that instead of ceding that whole voting method to their opponent.

Agreed on this, and from what I read, there was a proposal to institute Florida-style pre-counting in Pennsylvania, but it was blocked by the Republican house (for the obvious purpose now of trying to create cover for Trump to claim an early victory). It'll be interesting to see if they and other GOP-controlled states do an about face before the next election when it may benefit them for the reasons you point out.

I can't wait for him to come out of his hidey hole and have a press conference where he answers questions. Likely won't happen, but one can hope.

Yes! Trump actually sabotaged his own voters. Dont vote by mail, they'll cheat you. Okay so people who couldn't vote in person didn't vote and that republican ground game for voting by mail never got going. Democrats did and that's how they won.

8 million more Republicans voted in 2020 than in 2016. He did not lose the election because he told them to vote in person.

Looks like the Republican Party is starting to stand behind Trump in his attempt to fight the results

Ugh...this is gonna drag on for weeks, isn't it. Which begs the question, since the GOP controls the Senate, can they legally delay Biden's inauguration?

If they do Trump won't be the leader after noon Jan 20th, that part won't change.
