There's some interesting aspects here that aren't being talked about.
First of all, The Liberal's aren't the only governing party that might be freaking out. Its pretty clear that CSIS has penetrated the Chinese government at least at the Embassy level, I expect some fairly senior officials to be called home for briefings (Fingernail removal).
With the visit of the US President, I would expect that there will be a serious conversation between Justin and Biden in terms of security. This story points to multiple levels of government being possibly compromised, or at least people favorable to the Chinese Government having access to government information.

In theory, he could still do this after the announcement today by saying he doesn't feel that the committee investigations aren't sufficient for a issue of this magnitude and he would probably be applauded for a high level of integrity.

Also, if these two national security sources are CSIS, and CSIS had this information and the Director didn't immediately brief the PMO about the possibility of a Liberal back channel that went counter to the lives of two Canadians then the CSIS director needs to be immediately fired.
If CSIS did brief Telford and the PMO office on this interaction, its likely that Telford would have briefed Justin, at that point then realistically Justin should resign.
This is why there's no way that this can function any more in committee, and I seriously question if an inquiry won't be compromised by politics.
We need people under for real oaths. We need unlimited access to anyone that needs to be questioned no matter where this investigation ends up.
This process needs to be completely politically neutral, and there needs to be teeth to consequences.

Seems to me a retired federal judge or SCC member would be the way to go for an independent inquiry.
What a mess. Sounds like it's a very good thing these whistleblowers are doing: who knows where this stuff could've gone a few years down the road? Gawd the federal liberals are a bunch of selfish clowns, especially JT.

Fair enough, of course, but it’s not like this is a story from Rebel Media either. Global is a pretty well respected outfit.
