Isn't it weird how all those amazing Stanley Cup building geniuses turn into complete morons once they get hired by the Oilers?

It’s actually pretty easy to understand. The Oilers hire the guy who won championships with a team someone else built, instead of the guy who built it. They hired Ken Holland because he inherited the organization Jimmy Devellano built, and Stan Bowman because he inherited the organization Dale Tallon built.
They took the guy who brought in the harvest, but they never bothered to plant the seed.

In my experience, when I tell a foolish person an uncomfortable truth, he hasn't the strength of mind to believe it. I think we're safe.

I'd say they've been rock bottom for a while now, but their baby-soft schedule over the last month combined with a bunch of OT points were covering up a lot of the warts. These last 3 games have exposed the Oilers for how bad they really are.
Even if they still make the playoffs and the hockey gods gift them another easy path, these losers don't have the horses to make it out of the west. Any one of Colorado, Minny, Dallas, or even Vegas would eat them alive.

Whether they like it or not, they are one of the oldest rosters in the league, if they don't succeed this year, they're going to have to do a fast rebuild before Connors contract runs out, and they don't have a lot of assets to do a rebuild. Not a lot of draft picks, a piss poor prospect pool.
The smart move would be to trade someone like Bouchard or RNH or even Hyman to rill their roster.

How bad has Walman been this year? I thought he was quite good last season but. Haven’t been paying attention. It would sure be great if they had yet another terrible contract on their back end. Are his struggles because he is playing with Nurse? Or did he get his payday and pack it in?

This is nothing but wonderful at the minimum. It's too bad Calgary isn't a playoff team because that would.be some.great experience for those young men. Then have Pachal as a seventh, somebody will get hurt and he will go get paid somewhere. Pachal is a Commodore.

This would have been a glorious and fun filled final year of McDavid in an oilers jersey.
I still can't believe that moron signed for two more years and gave that discount on top of it.

It could easily still be his final year there.

Hopefully not. That would mean the oilers get a trade return for him. My point was it would have been awesome if this was his final year there and they barely make the playoffs (get knocked out early) or miss altogether, and then he walks away in free agency and they get squat.

Could you imagine the uproar if the Oilers started shopping McDavid - especially after he committed to the team with the reduced contract?
There is no way they are doing that.

The way he plays and the way he is built? Ovi 2.0. Go stand on the goal line and we will feed you for the one timers. Absolutely. He is just not allwed to be around any of the other players...ever. Build him his own one person bench like a penalty box and a private dressing room.

He has a full NMC. They aren't going to be shopping him without his permission.
